Door Handle LED (Blue)
Inspired by audiom3's post titled "Goin Green" https://my350z.com/forum/exterior-an...ing-green.html, I decided to expand my conversion project to the door handles.
I did the driver's side yesterday. I was concerned that the 3mm LED I planned to use would not be enough but it actually came out pretty much like I wanted. Just a hint of blue around the trailing edge when seen directly from the side.
This pic taken at dusk without flash.
I tapped in at the dome light assembly, figured that would make it simple and not that much more work.

Looking good!!! I just finished my passenger side door tonight because I had issues with it the first time. When you go anywhere at night and unlock your doors it looks absolutely amazing
The LED sticks into the inside of the handle a little bit. I was trying to go for a flush mount with the top of the bulb barely sticking up past the surface but the handle rotates on the axis of the hinge causing it to move in an arc. This causes it to make contact with the bulb if its mounted on the stationary part. I figure if left that way, after a while it's going to scuff the bulb up pretty good or damage it.
I decided to mount it so the LED travels with the handle piece that moves. A little shrink wrap around the leads and a fine round file around the drill hole prevents the leads from chaffing each time the handle is pulled.
So far, my fingers have brushed it once or twice so I figure when I do the passenger side, I will try to move it deeper into the handle, hopefully will not affect the brightness, maybe try using a 5mm LED, like Audiom3 did, instead.
Will experiment and post the results this weekend.

As promised -night shots
This was under the lights in the parking area behind my place.

Slightly off center biased from the rear, low light in the alley

Pretty much same angle, closer up

Blue tint on the steering wheel is coming from blue LED dome lights. I haven't decided if I will keep those or replace with white.
From straight across
