Default Weekend mods (black out)

I spent yesterday doing some mods aimed at making my car look a little cleaner. The car is dirty as I didn't have the time to clean it after hanging on it all day doing all the mods.

It's an 04 Touring for the record and when I bought it a month ago it was stock.

There's been some interest in the CF external door handle overlays. I bought a set to try. I like them but I don't but as my girlfriend said "I'm not crazy about the snakeskin pattern but they look better than the stock handles on a black car".

This is a close up and to be truthful they look better when you see the wheels as the colors combine well.

The next mod was to black out the tail lights and debadge the rear. I used two light coats of VHT Nite Shades followed by 3 coats of gloss clear.
I took off the "350Z" and hamburger on the rear. In a different thread a poster claimed that the "Z" from the "350Z" would cover the holes behind the Hamburger. He was wrong. I have a larger "Z" on order.

In addition to Sirius radio I like to listen to my IPOD Touch and came up with this way to mount it in the car.

Here is a side view and as you can see the car has a cleaner albeit darker look. In addition to the above mods, I blacked out the side markers and painted my calipers BLACK. I know a lot of you are overly opinionated about that but guess what? My car my rules. The black paint made the wheels look more finished without drawing attention to the calipers. It looks good actually.

I think it looks very clean... Nice work! Time well spent! Always been a big fan of the blackout look Should probably clear out your license plate for pics that you post on the internet though...

Looking great

I recently changed brakes and rotors and while I had them off I sprayed my calipers silver (b/c they were rusting and looked like hell). After spraying them I think they look great (actually look new haha) but I think I should have went with flat black. Love how your's look.

The only other thing I would do is spray maybe 1 coat of spray tint on the turn signal/reverse lights. I wouldn't make them as dark as the tails but just dim them down a bit... the whitish/silver reflection stands out alot on the black.

Just my advice. Other than that - I loooove a clean black Z.

I don't like the appearance of the door handle covers. Pull the handles and have them
painted if you want to kill the aluminum finish. Car looks great otherwise.

Did you drill a hole in your center console for your ipod mount. I like the location but probably woulda put a hole in the open switch cover next to your heated seats switch. I'd paint your door handles. IMHO they look better painted. I have mine painted with hot rod hue from dupont to give a matte finish and I love the look and feel of it. Car looks clean though.

Agreed.

You can easily tell they are stick-on... not my cup-o-tea.

The hole is on the switch cover. Yea I probably will eventually get the handles painted. They look better than the silver handles alone.
