Default Scraped my bumper!

Well after over a year of 350z ownership and many successful parking jobs I finally effed up pretty good. My driveway and garage are offset by about 2-3 feet so it's not just a straight shot. On top of that there is a very narrow bottle neck between my house and the dividing wall between properties that's made of concrete. So last night I cut the wheel a split second too soon and this is what happened: (see picture below). I can't afford to fix it right now so I'm going to put the leather bra on it until I've got some cash. I'm guessing it's going to be about $400, does that sound right? Bumper needs some minor filling and a spray. Anyone ever fixed anything like this before? I'm confident I could do it.

PS- No, I will not use this as an excuse to get a body kit.

I would roll with those scratches rather than putting on a leather bra. The scratches didn't look that bad, you can aways tell people you drift/race/whatever, the bra is just.....gay

I feel your pain. No really, I just did the same exact thing 30 mins ago so I'm on here now looking for a new front bumper. I also have had my Z for just over a year, and right now at my friends house I did'nt see a concrete block and yea looks just like in your picture. Looks like the wheels have to wait longer

It's an easy fix since its on that side 'lip' or whatever you want to call it. Tape off everything but that one side/angle/lip of your bumper. Sand down the clearcoat with 1000grit sand paper, lightly mist your black paint (code: G41) on the deep areas, wait to dry. Gently mist clearcoat on the area until it 'orange peels', let dry about 40% of the way. Then Load on the clearcoat until you see a mirror reflection. Aftar clearcoat drys (the next day), use 1500-2000grit sandpaper and wetsand the entire painted area, and the bumper 'crease' until the painted area feels smooth with the factory paint. Then buff out the wetsanded area with rubbing compound.

It may sound like it but this fix really isn't difficult, I just did a fix similar to this on the rear bumper of my Z earlier this week. If you have any experience with painting I would definitely give it a shot, worst case scenario is you mess it up, but sowhat since you need to have it resprayed anyways.

In the UK I'd just call "Chips Away". They filled my Audi Q7 rear bumper and airbrushed it in 2 hours and you would never tell for around $200

There is no way he would have to replace that bumper.

and why even bother with a spot paint at an angle? thats just retarded. take it to a body shop and they will do it the RIGHT way by repainting that whole front bumper. spot painting looks really bad even if you did it to where you can barely tell, you can still tell lol

$50 vs. $600+, and no you can't tell if done right. And usually when a shop does it they'll want to blend the fenders and hood also which means even more $$.

The damage is not on an angle, if you look at the pics you'll see it's on the flat part that outlines the wheel. I got lucky in that respect.

I've pretty much decided I'm either going to try and repair it myself or just throw the bra on it. Right now this is my primary car, when I get a more practical daily driver a little later down the road I'll just get a new bumper. Being my daily driver the underside has all kinds of scratches and scrapes from the rough roads in Los Angeles.
