When I roll my passenger window up on my 04z I hear a grinding noise. Is this a sign that my window motor is about to go?

 

Do you have aftermarket speakers by any chance? If aftermarket speakers are a little deeper than stock you'll hear a grinding noise which is the glass scraping against the magnet of the speaker as it rolls up.

 

Nope. The car is stock.

 

well, if the window rolls up slow and bogs down then it's the motor.

if it makes a clicking or popping noise and it studders as it is rolled up then it's probably the window regulator (the rails and cables). I had to replace both on mine.
