Minor ding but I have to get rid of it
Something fell on my Z today, it landed right on the flare that covers the
RR wheel well. I noticed from the wheel well side that the "liner" is metal
and part of the body in such a way as to not be removable. Does this make
it so dentless repair guys can't get at it or can they drill a small hole to provide
access to the underside of the body sheet metal and work it out from under the dent.
I really don't want to sand/fill/paint the quarter because of a 4mm dent.

Its like losing a loved one isn't it? I'm paranoid of the same thing. It'll happen to me, just a matter of time. Honestly though, just take it to a shop and get a free estimate, doesn't sound like it could be that expensive.

I will probably do that tomorrow. It just happened today and I couldn't deal
with it at the moment. The car is pristine and want to keep it that way but
having to decide between the ding or repainting a quarter panel is going to
be hard.
I just hope body shops in the area aren't hungry for work to the point that
they would try and BS me.

the ding king thing they arvertized on tv really works for small dents that havent creased the metal. it doesnt pull it out all at one time, it usually takes about 20 pulls but it will get it 95% out if not more. i have used it one another car it it was well worth the 20 bucks. they have them at advance auto parts.
also another trick is to heat the metal with a heat gun/ blow dryer with out messing up the paint and then place an ice compress over the area. the quick contraction of the metal can get the rest of the dent out. it may take several trys.
this worked for me.

I had a dent in the same spot, but on the opposite side, its a little difficult to get to, but they remove the taillight and can get to it from there.
took about an hour, but the PDR guy should be able to do it.

Something similar happened to me. Quarter sized rock came off a dump truck heading the opposite way and I saw it coming the whole time. It hit the ground, bounced and BAM; right into the EDGE of my hood, next to the headlight (whew) on the passenger side. It's a pretty big dent from such a small rock, paint is missing and where the dent starts the paint is starting to crack as well... I can't get to the under part of the hood in that area because of the bracing.

The body shop has a PDR guy on retainer....and thinks the PDR guy can
get to the ding through the gas cap filler door....
He said it would be $125....
I know this is a fraction of what full on body work would cost but is it fair
for PDR?

I had a major dent in my Chevy Avalanche door. It was prob like 6 inches wide by 4 inches tall. A PDR guy around here got it out after 2 hours for a hundred bucks. But it all depends on where the dent is at and how hard it is to get to.

The problem is, there aren't many PDR professionals in my area, I'd have to
drive at least an hour away. This body shop is in very nearby.
If he gets it all out, $125 isn't the end of the world....

yes, thats more or less what I paid to have mine done, its a little on the high end due to the difficult location of the bump in question.
but yeah, thats a fair price. and you'll be much happier when its done.

$125 isn't anything as long as it puts your mind at ease. (until the next one happens...)
I had my dealership fix a slight 2inch curb rash on my rim for $75, just because it was bugging the hell out of me. When I bought the car they fixed and curb rash for nothing, then I went and dinged one up. But the car looks mint now! Teaches you to pay more attention to the Z. Then again, I get paranoid whenever I have to park in a lot!
