Default Annoying glare from high-mounted brake light when driving my coupe at night...

The red light appears to be reflecting off the inside of the back glass, and it lights up the rear strut tower brace and anything in the cargo area.

I'm thinking about putting some foam tape around the light shield, but wanted to see if anyone has a better idea.

I haven't noticed this at all. Something sounds wrong. Did you buy new or used?

It's a 2008 touring coupe, bought new less than six months ago. There's a gap about 3/16" wide between the shield and the glass all the way across the rear edge of the shield.

I put some masking tape around the shield, and it stops the glare completely. Now I need to come up with a simple fix that doesn't show so much.

An old round black shoe lace works nicely. With the ends are tucked up under the upper finisher there's enough tension to hold it in place around the edge of the shield.
