Default White face Nismo tach

Is there anyway to buy the white face Nismo tach without buying the whole guage cluster? And does the guage cluster store the mileage memory or does the ECU do that. I mean if I could possibly find a used guage assembly would it have the mileage stored in it or would my ecu automatically put my mileage in the odometer? Thanks guys, sorry if its a repost. I couldnt find anything on it.

More than likely you'll need to buy the whole assembly, and the mileage is controlled by the ECU i believe, not the gauge cluster.

Ok, I kept searching and found that people stated that if I remove the guage cluster and install a used one my mileage will be what is already on the used cluster. That sucks! I wish the ECU would store that info! I mean that means if someone steals the one out of my car that it would start counting over! Thats dumb! Anybody buy and install a different guage cluster? Thanks

You might want to contact the OP of this thread:
https://my350z.com/forum/exterior-an...onversion.html

I know it's about LED conversions, but the OP has been able to source other "faces" for the tach, amongst other things.

Also, the gauge cluster stores all the odometer information, not the ECU. So, if you put a different one in, then it would continue counting where that one left off.

So your saying if somebody bought a brand new gauge cluster with zero miles on it, and installed it into a Z with 100K miles and turned on the car, the odometer would read "0"?

I believe so. That's why when people were trading gauge clusters, they always made sure the mileages were within XXXX of each other.

Thank you to everyone. I love this site! Next question I guess would be who has changed the faces? Any step by steps on here?

Wow 3hree5ive0ero, thats alot of work for LED's! I love the Nismo tach but I am worried about messing with the cluster to do that. Even the needels and stuff. It would be my luck I would break something and have to buy another cluster just for the broken parts

I can vouch for the mileage being kept in the gauge cluster.
