Cracked windshield. Covered under warranty?
I wanted to know if a cracked windshield was covered under nissan warrantyl. I was driving home and there was some construction going on and a rock happened to fly on my windshield. The crack was like 3 inches long at first. Now it has spread and its like 7 inches and going. Just want to know if its covered, if not i will conctact my insurance. Thanks

Thanks for all your input. I have a $100 comprehensive deductible from my insurance so im gonna do that. Also when they install the new windshield, the glass company have to use an OEM glass from nissan right? BEcause the windshield glass has some like black/gray piece right above the rear view mirrior

I just found out that if you have comprehensive insurance in TEXAS, the law says you can get a new windshield for FREE! The insurance will waived the deductible fee.
I have a windshield guy coming to my work today to take a look, let's see if it's true..
Update- Never mind, I got tricked... it was windshield repair for free... not the whole windshield... bummer...

I work at a glass shop. They dont have to use Nissan glass. They will probably go with something like ppg unless you ask specifically for oem glass. Also, most of the time, asking for oem glass will cost a bit more. Hope that helps.

Really? So if i get a windshield that is not OEM but a different brand, the homelink transmitter wont work or what? I called a couple places that replace windshields and told me that the windshield will be IDENTICAL to the OEM but it might be a different brand. But dont aftermarket glass companies have to make the glass to fit the OEM requirements such as this homelink system to work?

glass is an insurance item or out of your pocket depending.
If you go the insurance route, they will charge the insurance company 3 to 5 times what they would charge you- an interesting note regarding insurance premiums....
If the window is an OEM replacement it will have the antenna stuff in it.

Not that this really applies to this situation but I do know of somebody who got their rear window replaced by the dealer under warranty.
Of course his window seemed to basically just implode. Basically the whole thing just cracked but when the dealer inspected it and saw no impact marks they took pictures and sent it off to Toyota and told him they would cover it under warranty.
