Angry expensive @$$ nissan key

I figured since everyone tends to post a thread on their experiences on owning a 350z, i would too. I ll keep it short so you guys can get back to your forum routines.

So I bought my car in Manassas, VA in DEcember 31, 2008 from eastern motors for 19k, w/ 38,000 miles. i know, a little high but being 22 at the time i fell in love w/ a Z and needed to build credit, so i had to get one. the car came w/ one key and a transmitter, no spare.

I finally decided that I needed a spare incase I were to "missplace" my key so I ordered a new one from the stealership. Last year I orderd another transmitter from ebay/remotesforless and it worked but the key that came with it was a hoax. So today I paid $110.44 for just the key and on Wednesday ill pay 37.50 for the programming.

Now b4 the flamming starts for not research on a better price lolz, understand given my medical condition I havent been able to go home and take care of pending issues, duplicate key was one. I havent driven my car in 3 months and unfortunately I wont be able to take it back with me to DC.

This is my experience on how dealerships rape people of their hard earn money. No offense those who work for them.

Thanks for hearing my rant, i will gladly read yours if you post them

You had a need, the dealer filled it. You were told the price and you paid it. What's the problem?

For the most part, the day of the $2.00 keys are behind us. Most new cars use anti theft keys and the cost to replace them is pretty high. You can still get standard keys for lots of older cars. Just take care of the keys you have and when buying a used Z, make sure you get a minimum of 2 keys and fobs.

Just FYI for everyone, if you have an ACE hardware store by you, my local one did my replacement chip key for my 2004 ZR for $70 and they programmed it.

Works great, the dealer wanted $200+ LOL

Exclamation Missing keys

A new 350z comes with 2 master keys and 1 red valet key.

I'd be concerned about any missing keys... you never know who has them.

You should clear all the existing key IDs from the car, then reprogram the ECU with the keys that you have in your possession.

Service manual page BL-77.

What happened to the days when you went to the hardware store and got a key for $1?

I remember Alvin getting a switch key and starting a thread about that a few years ago which I think were fairly resonable..

Why not tape or zip tie the expensive key to the Black box, then go to your local ACE or key shop and get your $2.00 key made and never worry about loosing it.. Yes there goes the security of it , and thats what Insurance is for..

BTW..
it works for me!!

good lucking out, like posted in the begining i too bought the transmitter that came w/ a BONUS nissan key. the transmitter worked but the key was a knock off.

i love how this forum is full of people with a sense of humor...

now in days its hard to tell if items on ebay are legit, i know the dealership sells authentic keys made so i went to them.

although a switch key looks badass.
