your also missing the rectifier diodes, they go after each output from the IC4017, with out them, the SCRs wont latch.

what kind of power supply are you using to bench test the circuit??

EDIT : Why 9V? Are you using a power regulator? If so , what kind?

your also missing 3 more rectifier diodes, these go before anything...prevents any back feeding and protects your circuit incase you have the power wires backwards.

Ground...............Diode
Turn Signal.........Diode
Reverse..............Diode

EDIT...You WILL need a 6 ohm load resistor on each side, unless you like hyper flashing/blinking

EDIT...Or a 3 ohm Resistor if you have front LED turn signals...OR a new LED Flasher, located somewhere inside your dash.

Mine...

Those look great. Ever thought of doing them in red instead of amber?

Was thinking of doing a mod like this, and started. The only question I have is what type of pcb are you using to mount the leds. I tried using pcb from Radio Shack but quickly found out its crap. I can't bend it to match the contour of the light. The Radio Shack stuff just cracks and wont bend far before breaking.

I got mine at fry's electronics...but its the same as radioshack....use a heat gun to bend them.

Flipper... awesome turn signals man!!

You mentioned 6 ohm load resistor on each side. Is that all that's necessary to get the hyper flash to stop? Install one resistor per side and not one resistor per turn signal lamp? superbrightleds-com advises to use one resistor per signal. But they also recommend the LED flasher in place of the resistors if possible, so I'm confused...!?

Also, you mentioned LED flasher up in the dash. Is that the location of the Electronic LED 12V Flasher Relays on the 350z? I thought it was out somewhere in the open and easy to access, like the fuse box!?

I searched, but cannot find any info on which LED flasher is to be used with our cars...

Thanks,

How did I miss this thread? Electronics hobbyists FTW!... We could come up with some cool little innovations and gadgets for the Z if we put out heads together.

Forget about everything!!! lol ...its really simple
IF you dont like hyperflashing/Ricer Blinker
THEN
IF you ONLY have LEDs in the rear and HALOGEN in the front or vice versa
THEN
Install a two 6 ohm resistor ,one on EACH LED side.
END
IF you have LEDs on BOTH front and back
THEN
Install a 6 ohm resistor on all four sides
OR
install a two 3 ohm resistor, one on each side. Doesnt matter if its the back or the front.
END
END

/done

Thanks flipper. I think I'm going to purchase two 3ohm resistors and mount them in front on both sides. So I'm assuming one resistor, once installed per side, will trick the BCM into thinking both lamps (F/R) are there?

Also, I guess a digital LED flasher module doesn't exist for our cars? Or is the circuitry built into some BCM block?

Props to flipper for helping you. I commend that. Flipper sells these. From his MySpace.
That's neat that he helped you out like that. I may need to PM Flip to make me some, what he did here in this thread speaks volume to me.
For a "company" to assist a sole person is pretty fawkin cool.
I'm done humping Flipper now. LOL

Hate to be a wet blanket, but I think those are a really bad idea. Non-standard signals are likely to distract and confuse people. You could find yourself in an accident as a result, and the person who hits you would claim the signal was a contributing factor.

They will also attract the attention of the police, and that's never a good thing.

I know stock is boring, but sometimes boring is better than the alternatives.

On that particular video I have full control of the blinking rate and reverse signal. Im testing the basic functions, the turn signal is red-orange while the reverse is white. i hope your not thinking thats how it looks in the car installed.. Had em for more than 2 years, no problems. The new mustang gt has sequential turn signals as well, so its nothing new since FORD has it already.

I think your setup looks sweet, but I agree with the comment above in that the transition has to be slightly slower or maybe a three block stage (like the mustang). Your just ahead of your time Flipper, the average person will adapt to new systems and situations over time. I hope cars have this kind of flavor in the future...
