04 HID headlamp upgrade - retrofit of BMW M3 E46 bixenon projectors
looks good. You should have done something with that amber strip or even maybe remove it. I'm sure your lenses are affecting your light output also it looks like the lens has a good amount of oxidazation.

Thanks for the replies guys!
My right side headlamp got some water in it after it rained so I had to tear it open and clean it... the ballast wasn't working so I shook all the water out and let it sit an hour and it works. I have to give credit to Matsushita, their ballasts are resilient little beasts. I put some silicone weather sealant around the headlamp and reinstalled my wheel well plastic liner guard thing, hopefully that will take care of it. The headlamp got water in it even before I tore it apart, so it had nothing to do with my work.
As for the oven thing I'll do that next time... luckily I didn't have any problems with the high temp for only a couple minutes.
aRYip, 06's are better and of course I would of preferred that but they are way too expensive for me, even used.
duro78, Yeah I was thinking about painting them but couldn't decide what would look good. Flat black was my most desired, but then I decided just to leave them alone because I wasn't sure if I would of been happy. This works for me... I care more about performance than how it looks, personally.
Nexx, I thought about that but the amber stripe doesn't really bother me. What is it that people dislike about it?
marques1, Yeah it's bad... I'm going to try some "GOO GONE" and see if that helps, otherwise i'll go to Schucks or AutoZone and get some product designed specifically to clean the headlamps. I'm sure its affecting output some.

Yes... the adjustment ***** move the entire lower reflector/projector assembly, which I attached the new projectors to. However, I didn't take note of of the aim before removing the old projectors and installing the new ones, resulting in my aim being way off and difficult to adjust.
If you do this project however, I would aim your car at a wall (and leave it there until your done with the project) or the inside of your garage door, and note the location of the step on each headlamp. So when you install the new projectors you can try to get the step at the same spot, and then they will already be aimed when you put them in the car.

hey im debating between the 06's and swaping my guts from my 05 oem hids over someone said that u can make them work with the bi xenon not sure. but if i do decide on the retrofit did u use ur oem ballast or aftermarket one for these thanks.
thanks op for the reply. I saw your thread at hid planet. Your tutorial is motivating me. I may buy some mini projectors from retrofit source
. This would be a cheaper alternative to oem bi-xenons and possibly out perform them.
