Question Headlight swap help! (Yes I searched)

Hey everyone,

Before I get hounded about searching I went through 9 pages and tried typing different things.

I have an '05 with HID (Touring model) and just purchased headlights from an '06. Everywhere I read said "plug n' play"...
When I try and install it, '05 headlight has an 8plug harness and the '06 has 6plug harness. So obviously, not plug n' play...
here is a picture for reference. So what am i missing?

Thanks for the help!

Well, I'm going to just snip the plugs and swap 'em between headlights. Hopefully this works!

may be a dumb questiuon, but have you tried pluggin them in yet?

I have an 05, and bought 06 lights and while the wiring looks different, they "PLUG n PLAYed" just as it has been posted previously. I even bought my lights ea from separateplaces used... so it would seem they would all be the same.

Just plug em in, I bet you 100 bucks they work fine. Mine even had the CCFL Halos wired in there.... and all work just fine. My turn signals seem to be dual filament in the newer headlight, so they light dimly when the halos and parking light are on, but I like the look and kept em in.

Again, just plug em in and try it before you go cutting stuff.

I tried, it didn't fit.

Pin socket to bits...easier to cut and not mess up the plugs. You can always add more wire...

Were these '06 headlights bought used? The reason I ask is it might be that a previous owner changed the connector to the 6 pin Base halogen light connector. The Base has only a 6 pin connector. It could possibly have happened, you never know. That might be why the '06 item has the 6 pin connector.

Yep! I was just about to post this...we swapped the harness and then started discussing it. The guy I bought them from probably had a base so the "plug and play" was for a base-base as oppose to hid-hid. If that makes sense...thanks for the help everyone!
