Angry factory shift ****

Ugghhh! I bought a titanium shift ****, but I cant get the factory one off. I"m guessing it just twists off but I get to a point where it does'nt want to move anymore. I dont want to damage anything. Can someone please tell me what Im missing 'cuz its aggravating the hell out of me!

I can't find the thread with pics, but like above;

1. Wrap a paper towel around the shift **** so you won't damage the shifter in the next step
2. Get a vice grip and tighten over the paper towel
3. Righty tightey lefty loosey, turn the shift **** left and it should come out fairly easily
4. Replace it with your new shift ****.

I was merely referring to his comment that the gears feel shorter. The key word here being "feel". A new shift **** isn't going to shorten your gearing.

I'm guessing and well hoping that he meant the shift throw feels shorter?

Even then, the throw will be the same. The only way to shorten the throw is with a short throw shifter.
