Default Modified 350z L.E.D. tail lights

These are the first (that I know of) custom built 350z tail lights. I have about 30 hours into these tail lights. I ordered these tail lights brand new online, got them and began the task of cutting them apart and customizing them. They have around 90 L.E.D's in them all together (give or take a few). I put together a relay set up to make the tail lights run as turn signals also. Then at night when you turn the tail lights on it activates the relay set up and makes the turn signal and tail lights alternate when the turn signal is activated. I also added the reverse lights into them and an L.E.D (Z) turn signal into the lower reflector. The upper reflector is lined with 32 L.E.D.'s that run as tail lights and turn signals. Real carbon fiber accents under the lower reflector and in between each upper reflector. All reflectors have been smoked, all other internals have been painted semi gloss black and all L.E.D.'s are mounted under the reflectors to give it a stock look. They have clear lenses and the R8 mod is done in red along the bottom and a quarter of the way up the side of the tail lights that is also used as turn signals. Follow the link to see a video of them in operation...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9qILErljdU

impressive work man. i like how they have that smoked looked to them. Im not a fan of the thin line turn signal but you did really well distinguishing the different leds. Im curious of how many times you'll be pulled over...

i also wanna know if these were the jdm or ebay lights too

Default Modified 350z L.E.D tail lights

Thanks for all the compliments on the tail lights. I put a lot of work into them. They are eagle eye after market tail lights not the clear JDM tail lights. This could be done to the JDM and OEM tho. The casings are all the same. I have an 06 350z and the light quality between the stock L.E.D. tail lights and the after market tail lights are the same ( casing ,lights and all). As of now I do not have any built for sale or am I sure what they would cost when I do build a second set. I will be sure to let anyone who is truly interested in getting a set know when I do build some more.

I am posting more videos of the tail lights below. A couple of better ones in the day light. I am also posting a few more pics.

When you bought it, did it come with clear lenses? Or did you swap the red ones for clear ones? Also, how did you open the tail lights up? Baked them like baking headlights? Same temp?

also interested in how you were able to remove the lens cover and also wondering how you removed the red...

did you bake these? what were the temps and time in oven?
thanks for the info!

---------
side notes...
i heard the eBay lights can cause volt issues resulting in rev issues (something with ecu conflict)
and are prone to burning out... (dont know how true this is?)
im tired of my 05 tails and would like something not so OME (06-08)

but have not really looked into it much
any ideas anyone?

would be nice to get a set of these, strip the red replace with the clear lens and paint em black.
Its a easy way to get away with NOT blacking out the tails to prevent getting pulled over due to poor light visibility!

The tail lights came with the clear lenses. You can not bake the tail lights on the Z....They tend to melt ...... The only way is to cut them open which takes a little skill and time to get right with out damaging the light. Either that or hacking them up so bad that you can't get them back together with a good enough seal to keep out the moisture .That is by far the trickiest part of the whole thing... Nothing worse than a foggy lens ... Thanks for the interest.
