Sup guys,
Ok, this isn't my typical forte, however i'm certain i can accomplish the work........
I want to change out my FROST interior center console - the section where the EBRAKE goes, NOT the radio bezel and nav door section, but the section between the SEATS!
I searched and found peeps replace everything from 03-05 car to an 06 up model interior.........I DON'T WANT THAT.
I have an 04 Touring with OEM nav and I just want the frost section BLACK!!
I have my 04 Nav door, gauge section and shifter section being wrapped with that 3M CF look a-like stuff from here.
I do realize i can get another 03-05 black unit? - and i may just do that!
BUT,
is it possible to change ONLY that section out with the 06 up unit???
if it is possible, the deciding factor will be the price i score it for at the junk yard on whatever year model i can get my hands on.......lol...just wanna ask those that may have already taken on this project....
I did pm a few peeps with threads already, some had pics down, etc so im waiting on replies, but i wanted to still post and ask those that have done this before...
To recap, I will have this section of my 04 parts wrapped like this:

And I wanna replace:

Thanks,
-J

I dont think it can be done without replacing entire dash assembly.
See curvature around the shifter area as opposed to your more squared version. But i could be wrong.

I've actually been wanting to do the same thing, I have a feeling there will be cutting and molding involved, lol
I've also researched this in the past and from how the shifter assembly lines up with the remaining portion of the dash it's just not possible to replace one or the other.
You will in fact need to replace the entire center portion from a 2006+ for them to fit properly.
Considering how common older Z's are becoming you might be able to find an entire replacement at a reasonable cost after selling your current setup. You would of course have to re-wrap the dash.

Is it the actual shifter like it will interfere with shifts? Or is it just the surrounding area, cause I'm not afraid to do a lil hack and slash and make pretty afterwards if all I have to do is a little trim here and there.
Edit - Better question,
What if right after the shifter, I cut the piece. Then do the same on the other so I can have the slider tray thing from the 06 but still have 03' all the way up. That way the shifter is still in the right spot and then all that will be needed is to relocate the hazard switch which is a nuisance on the 03's anyway.

Looking at it now, and seeing that most likely is swap "ALL OR NONE" type issue, I'm probably just gonna source a BLACK 03-05 replacement for mine and call it a day!...
