Ok. I expect to get flames from this question, but I can handle the flames if I also get some answers...
With my new exhaust, I have more room available under my rear bumper. I have noticed a beam that is now visible from the rear of the vehicle and I was wondering if it is strong enough to mount a reese hitch for use with a bike track or small platform (for tailgating supplies)
yes, I know the Z is a sports car, etc, etc. But this is my car and if I can have an easily hidden hitch mount, I can enjoy driving my Z on trips to the mountains to ride my mountain bike. So for me, it would be win, win.
Pictures of the beam that I am talking about:

This is a closer picture of the beam in question.

What's sad is that I have a pickup truck too... but I just hate driving an hour through the mountains to go bike riding and have to take the truck when it would be so nice to drive the car. Plus, I travel a good bit for work and anytime that I need to take equipment, etc. it would be nice to drive the Z if the weather is nice. I agree that it is going to bother me a bit... and I may take it back off a week or two after trying it out... but the convenience would be great.
I'm definitely not advocating Nissan putting them on the Z from the factory or anything... :-)

Jason has introduced me to the solution he used. Very slick. I had already started fabricating some thing to use the frame bar since my exhaust allows for it. However, I like his solution because it is hidden.
