Seats bothering me - good replacements?
I have a Track model with the track seats and the full set of six airbags.
Let me preface this by saying two things: (1) I have a hip injury and (2) the seats in my 350z have always been too hard and small for my frame. By this, I mean that my rib cage and hips are both larger than the width of the bolsters on the seat (yes, I am very tall), so they squeeze me, sometimes uncomfortably after a long drive.
I know the 350z is a sports car and these are firm hugging seats, but they are meant for someone 5"10, not 6"5.
After my recent hip injury, the seats are unbearable as the pinching of the bolster is brutal. I have thought about the changing out the seats before, but now I am really considering it. This would also be a good chance to get a seat that is a bit lower, so I have an inch or two more headroom.
Recaros look fine, but I am worried they might also be too thin. Are there any versions of the seats in the 350z model line that I can swap in that are more comfy? Maybe some owners of those seats can voice up. What about G35 seats, I think those have been fairly comfy? Are they compatible, given that they are the same chassis?

UPDATE: People complain about the G35 seats as well. Apparently the seat rails are taller than on most japanese cars, which causes problems for taller/wider Americans.

G35 Sedan seats may work. My mom just had her hip replaced over the summer and my Z seats ride on her scar, but her G sedan is fine.

you can try the Recaro speed seats, they are still sporty, but have a bit less of a "hug" from the boltsers. Also, Bride offers a reclining seat with a virtually flat bottom cushion portion of the seat that might work for you as well
The other thing you can do is take the car to an upholstery shop in your area and see if they can remove padding from your seats OR if they can slightly re-structure your seats to fit you more to your liking...

Did you ever find a solution? I tore my rib cage and obliques muscles in a triathlon last year and when ever I drive my car for over a week, the same pain returns. So, I need a sit that's a little wider in the ribcage area. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You should try the Corbeau LG1 seats. They are wider then the stock seats and will still fit in the Z. You can also get inflatable lumbar support added to them for $99 more. http://www.corbeau.com/products/reclining_seats/lg1/
