Question HELP with nissan oem sealant

hello guys,

I just bought some nissan oem sealant because I'm planning to replace my headlight lens. It looks like this:

Has anyone ever used this before?

Am i supposed to heat this up in the oven to get it warm and then jam it inbetween the headlight lens and housing case?

And honestly, this one roll doesnt' even look like it's enough for two headlights. Or do I just cut it in half and make it work?

Or should I just stick with regular silicone sealant?

Any help is appreciated!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

cool you bought the oem stuff, but its really not needed.........

Follow the DIY threads on doing this and you will be more than fine..........

I heated mine up, pulled them apart, removed my orange reflector lens and replaced with a clear one and simply added more sealant, leaving the existing sealant there and put it back in the oven..waited for it all to get nice and yucky and pressed it all back together.........while pressing you can see it squeeze out and you easily realize its gonna be just fine...

no worries here, years later...

Just follow the DIY and rock and roll......

I found the OEM sealant WAY more trouble than it was worth... messy and a royal P.I.T.A. Think of it like playdoh, roll it out thinner and maybe it will be a little better.

If I had to do it all over again, I would just stick to the regular silicone sealant around the outside once the headlights were back together.

I also have used this stuff, I purchased 06 headlights from two different people, and one was in BAD shape. The sealant was some nasty stuff and a mix of silicone..what a mess. I spent a whole afternoon scraping all the old crap off and used this Nissan sealant.. its really not that bad depending on your method of resealing. I used a heat gun and rolled it thin into the trench I guess you could call it and heated it up and pressed little by little. The headlights have the demon eye mod, halo mod, STI lens mod.. Works well. I took a pressure washer to remove some of the salt off my car from the snow and it didn't have any leaks. The problem with the silicone sealant is that is can cause fumes in the headlight housing and cause it to fog up.. Don't mess with silicone if at all possible.
