Default Broken Headlight (HID), im lost!

Ok so i had a small fender bender in the front. I managed to hit the guy just right and smacked my drivers side headlight. I cracked the lens. At first it wasnt a big deal. And then as i drove, i guess whatever mechanism that aims the actual headlight broke loose. Now im stuck with it aimed all the way down and i cannot get it aimed back right.

My main thing is i guess i just need to replace the damn thing. So... Aftermarket headlights... All i can seem to find is the non-hid replacements.

Can i get the non-hid and still use my factory d2r hid bulb? The pictures of the 2 (hid and non-hid) look EXACTLY the same physically.

I have searched for this and cannot seem to find an exact answer. Please help.

No you will not be able to use non-HID in place of HID. The HID housing (the rear half that is black plastic) has a cutout for the ballast and other components to assemble to. On non-HID, this area is molded in. I suppose you could do some cutting of your own but I wouldn't try to. I think it's more than just cutting. It's been a while since I've seen them side by side but I've had both in my possession at the same time.

You may be able to mix and match parts with the non-HID to get all the working parts you need. However, I am not sure what the leveling component is attached to.

HID lights are powered by ballasts. Halogen is not. Swapping is not a simple plug-and-play

I know this. Thats not my question. Im not doing a base to hid conversion (although that seems to be the only thing i find in my search). I just basically wanted to kno if the non hid and hid assemblies would accept the same bulb size (d2r). I wouldnt be worried about ballast placement too much either.

Im just honestly tryin to spend less as possible. And noone seems to make aftermarket hid type replacements.

The hid and non hid are 2 different bulb sizes, so in answer to your question is the d2r bulb will not fit in the halogen lights, I believe they are H7(someone chime in if that is wrong) and the wiring harness for hid is 8 wire while the halogen is 6 wire iirc.

I would say your best bet is take a look at just buying the driver side light from a member on here that is set up for HID. It also seems to be A LOT cheaper than going to 06 headlights.

just my $.02.

Aw yea no doubt, converting to 06 headlights is waaaaay outta my price range. And im thinkin the sizes you are saying are correct. Thats wat ive been seeing. And i fella on here has one for sale for a damn good price, im just a broke *** at the moment.

And the more and more i read into this, i think to myself, ive never seen a damn 350z without HIDs. So it just confuses me that all that i can find aftermarket to replace it are non-hid ones...

Guess im just gonna have to bite the bullet and get a oem part. Hopefully soon bc i cant see **** i night.

Sorry to say this but you both are wrong.
I bought the black out Ebay headlight, which has H7 bulbs, and I transferred the entire set of HID kit from my OEM HID touring light over.
Of course there are cutting the plastic cover at the bottom. But the ballast bases fit perfectly in.
And it will take you about a half day to migrate all the harnesses and modify the little bulb holder a bit to fit.
But I guarantee it will fit!
just take your time and do it if you want to.

Oh and you might have to cut out the turn signal and the parking light wire because those bases will not fit the after market housing.
Just spice them into the after market housing turn signal and parking light bases.
Dont be scared! :-)
