Default 06 Headlights (Clear Lens)

Has anyone tried the clear lens replacement for the 2006 and up projectors?

I have been researching almost everything related to projectors and HID's and it seems that the reason the high end cars...Mercedes, Audi and such have that changing color look is that they are using clear lenses on their projectors.

First off...no flaming, I am just asking if anyone has tried this.

Also to throw out to anyone with 06 and up headlights that there is a place called Lightwerks in NJ, that does the retro for $105 and I was hoping someone could give it a try. Before anyone gives me crap I WOULD try it, but alas I do not have 06 and up headlights. Although I have been kicking around the idea of seeing if they can do it on the 04 lights.

Thanks for the input everyone.

For the 06 lights, the stock lenses are fresnellled (sp?) but other lenses like the STi lenses are clear, and give the colorful cutoff like you are talking about. it is a common retrofit for the 06+ lights, search for that on here, its been done before.

Duh, guess looking for clear lens brings it up...lol

Does anyone know if its been tried on 03-05 headlights and does anyone happen to know the size of the projector lens?

I've been throwing around the idea, but it is a daily driver and I would like to possibly order the lens before I take apart the headlights.

Thanks ahead of time.

Might as well have them do other work while they have your lights tho.

My cars lights are in his gallery.. they are all black but ahve the reflector area nder the lamp painted silver to match the projector housing.

hey dont make the clear lens for the 05... the actual unti in the 06 is a very popular one.. its in many many cars, so the lens is much more widely available. Its a true bi xenon.. the 05 lights are purely terrible.. so glad i upgraded instead of milking out what i could w the 05 hids..

Painting everything color matched including shroud and lower lip chrome silver(same color the Z is) and protectve film , white angel eye , clear sti lens.

From the look of your guys lights im going to be happy with my set , should really finish the front end look.

For what it's worth, the same mod can be done on the 370. Did it last weekend- huge difference .

I wouldn't bother with the 03-05 headlamps... I tore our the stock projectors (which are tiny BTW) and replaced them with some bixenon projectors from a E46 BMW. Worked great for a month until I crashed my car and smashed all my hard work into smitherines. But I digress... i'd fork out the dough for some 06+ and maybe get them modded. I got a set of brand new 06's on ebay for $850 although that didn't include the HID ballasts or bulbs (which I already have).

Here's my retrofit of BMW projectors into my 04 headlamps if your curious. It's worth it if you don't have $500+ to spend.
