Default Plasti-Dip Questions & Projects Thread

Saw this on the Benz forum and thought about doing this to my emblems. This plasti-dipped stuff seems to be very durable once it's sprayed on. Anyone try this?

"This may have been discussed previously, but I decided to black out my rear emblems with the use of some Plasti Dip purchased from Lowes. I first cleaned the emblems with alcohol then applied three coats over about 10 minutes and then let dry for an hour. The excess peals off. The emblems can also be returned to chrome by pealing off the Plasti Dip. Total cost about $10."

If it can be peeled off to return to the chrome what's to say a carwash won't peel it off? Just doesn't sound like it would last.

If your car wash peels it off, you're going to the wrong type of car wash.

kinda confused as to how this works. You can spray it on the paint of the car, and it will peel off without damaging the paint?? But it stays on the emblem??

This.

Plasti-dip is some pretty cool stuff though. I have used it on a few of my past rides.

There are also several other colors available, not just black.

Plasti-dip sucks... it looks horrible in person!... Why are Benz owners even cheaping out on "mods" in the first place?

I did the front grill of my G35. Was tired of the rock chips with normal paint.

what a retard benz owner. cheaping out huh? payments got you down?

can't afford a real paint shop? just dumb. sorry, but i'll stick to diy stuffs
on my "less expensive" Z. I'd be embarrassed to post this on a benz forum
for the obvious reasons...

I have used it before, it works ok. The thing I dont like is if you get a nick in it you have to peel it completely off and start over again, when it dries it is kind of like latex except if breaks into a million pieces when you try and peel it off.
