Paint is chipping on rear bumper.. suggestions?
Hey evreyone, I drove my Z in the snow and the rear bumper paint is chipping off I dont have a pic at the moment but there are 3 major areas about 5 inches by 5 inches of black paint that has come off.. any suggestions to what I could do to touch up.. repainting will cost $400 not looking to spend that much, can I sand the bumper spray paint and clear coat?

for a body shop its gonna take no time. for an ameteur(sp?) it may be a little harder. all of this needs to be done with an automotive paint out of an automotive paint gun, not rattle can clear. theres is a technique to useing automotive paint gun. its not as easy as pulling the trigger and going.
take bumper off
feather out the hard paint edges wit 180.
sand over the 180 scratches and a little further out with 400
prime to the 400 scratches making sure all 180 scratches are primed over. base coat can fill 400 scratches, not 180
let primer dry about 3 or 4 hrs depending on weather
sand primer with 600
sand reast of bumper with 800
wipe down with wax and grease remover
dust in the primer with color and blend out a little bit
tack off with a tack rag
put 2 coats a clear allowing proper flash time in between coats
this is a rough how to with out going to indepth

everyone you ahv asked has said there is no QUICK way to do this. Take the advice of the masses.
While i work hard for my money and am not wealthy by any means, 400 dollars for the 350z is not alot to spend, especially on something that heavily affects the resale or residual of your car.
as they say " good //cheap //easy..... pick two". end of story.

Honestly, I would either save up and do it the right way or not touch it at all. Stay away from using a rattle can.
