if you get the cheap basic 200$ heasdlights off ebay they wont work the plug is different from the base models to the ones with factory hid
the upper models have a wider plug so if you do get something off ebay make sure it has factory hid and it should be a plug and play. good luck with everything tho.

We have members who are electrical geniuses. HID to halogen. Halogen to HID. Mix lights and harnesses. Snip - snap there you go.

Unfortunately I am not one of these special people and neither are you: If you drive a 2006 get 2006 headlight and 2006 harness. Done.

Good luck.

Do you still have stock HID ballasts? You can get 06+ headlamps for $800 without the ballasts and bulbs.

This is where I bought mine... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NISSA...Q5fAccessories

Doesn't have ballasts, bulbs, or the plastic cover on the back. Other than that they are brand new and work wonderfully.

The base model has halogen.
Those ebay lights without the ballast cutouts and 6 pin connectors will pnp.
04s with Xenon has 8 pins on the headlight connectors.
Is your car base model?

I think the IDPM for the base may be different also.
I have a 2003 base with the complete front stripped.
I bought a replacement harness from a vendor here thinking it was xenon but was not.
I discovered the mistake too late and gotno reply to my emails.
The pins may be the same though.
I have been away from home for 6 months and cannot check until next month.

If you have an 06 like you said, it had OEM HID from the beginning, even if it was base model. 06 is when they ALL got HID. 03-05 base had halogens, all other trims had HID.

You can buy the ballasts at a lot of places, they are Matsushita brand. Try ebay... Used is fine frankly, these are excellent, reliable ballasts and I wouldn't be afraid to buy used. Also get some decent name brand HID bulbs, 4100K or 4300K color temp is stock. Get new on those... You should be able to do all this for under $1,000 or at least really close to it.

Oh and regarding this shop... depending on how much stuff of yours they kept you might consider filing a claim against them in small claims court. That is BS they still have stuff from your car. Your not 'lucky' for getting your car back, you own it and it is rightfully yours. If you don't get a fair deal, take them to court. Don't let them jerk you around and get their way. Hire an attorney if needed. But if it is less than a $1000 of parts it may not be worth the effort, depending on who you are.

as stated above, search for the 06 bixenon setup. don't settle for the 03-05. and feel free to share your story in the northeast section if you wish so that others may be able to avoid this shop that scammed you in the future in case they ever reopen business again. good luck

I was looking into moving up to the 06+ headlights, but I can't justify spending that much money.

"...a set of ebay headlights....fail all across the board." Yup

Plus hid kits usually have tons of issues. They'll go out or start to flicker with a little bit of time.

Stick with OEM. Good luck with the car.

Generally I agree but there are a few quality aftermarket brands out there. Reliability depends on the quality of the parts and the quality of the install. If you do a crappy job installing it, even excellent quality parts can break. I've ran on a set of aftermarket HID ballasts and bulbs for over 5 years in a previous car.

I must say though our OEM "Matsushita" brand ballasts are awesome! I've had water in them before and after shaking it out (literally) and letting it dry a few hours it still works. Now that is impressive.
