Tryin to get my hands on the MCR hood for the Z.

Unfortunetly the wait to get one shipped would be insane.

But since im building a 380 rs clone i kinda need it to finish the look .

How is the fitment on those fenders? I know the lip lining up has nothing to do with the fenders but the small gap on the top may have a better fit with the OEM set up.

Fitment with the other hood was perfect there, so I dont think it is the fenders.

Actually its not a bad replica, It lines up better than my authentic CF Fusion hood in width. I fixed the massive lip with a new sander. Sry about the night pics but I have been working on my car all day.

If anyone is interested in Top secret style hood vent let me know. I have the vents made. You jsut need to cut your OEM hood to fit on.

I have never tried them before, idk off hand and I am not callen them out as most fiber glass needs love. Check the sellers its the only thread for a FG mastergrade hood.

I looked alot at the Seibon hoods and even ran through ebay for ideas. In the end I picked this hood because the holes are large and open up over my BOV.

is it really worth having aftermarket hoods at the expense of horrible fitment? IDK why some of you guys would pay money to get hoods that fit horribly when the stock one fits perfect (and in most cases looks better).

just my .02cents

FI and track guys that have heat management issues really need them. Then the Stillen Supercharger guys need them. Other than that, people just want the looks or rice points from bare carbon.

+1 I have a vented hood because my turbo can cook an egg on the OEM hood. Also the BOV under a vent helps alot.

problem is you're then trying to mold a fiberglass vent to an aluminum hood

you think you've got issues now? you would be redoing the vent every year being in Florida with the humidity and temps down there, the filler will always be stretching and cracking

I got mine because I like the style hoods that some of the ALMS/GT class cars run (and the 380RSC) and I thought it would compliment the overall theme of my car - modded, but clean and purposely not over the top exterior wise. I didn't like the flat factory hood, and the vent helps tremendously with heat extraction, even on an NA car like mine. You literally can see the heat pouring out of the vents. The weight savings is nice, but not my motivator since other things I've done (stereo for example) added weight

Like anything else, it all comes down to what you buy. Several fit just as nicely as stock, others, not so much unfortunately

True, I dont think I could sport the OEM 05 lines with my setup. Just have to get this one to fit a little better, then its hood pins and paint time.

Hood Update:

Let me begin by saying I started off on a bad foot by setting myself on the MG hood only. These hoods are no longer made and are about impossible to get used so I went with a fiber glass replica from Chaser for 300$ shipped. The shipping info was not correct and the shipping company could not get ahold of me based on the incorrect phone info. I contacted the seller and was given the tracking info and contacted the shipping company where it was waiting. The followup was all on me as it is in many cases, either way I had my hood and all is well. I have taken it now to customcarclassics that is local to me in central FL. I showed Mark "the owner" what I took off up front and my concerns on the top, sides and top left passenger corner. The hood was clearly new as it could not fit a Z as it showed up at my door but in areas it loooked used... damaged and repared. Spots have small chips, the entire hood had to be sanded because of some gummy black spray paint over the entire hood. Once they took the spray paint off u could notice how pitted it was. To say the least people if u go cheap it cost u the same "or more"+time+head ache. Let me show u what I mean.

Only two hoods I like, the MG and the Fusion.

Bran New CF Fusion: 800 shipped
CF MG "if it was possible to find it used": 650 - 750 shipped

Now check this:
Fiberass Chaser auto MG Hood Replica: 300 shipped + DIY tools 150+ Painter finish and PIMPing with PPW love 400 - 500+ a month time for DIY "took me longer than a week with work" and 3 weeks at the painter= 850 -950 "for fiberglass not CF"

So in the end I still feel hoods are the worst mod and just to add to the head ache, adding hood pins to this hood is a MAJOR PITA. The front is to much at an angle and I went through 150$ in hood pins before I said F this and cut somthing custom out of steel. "will post up next week after I get the car back.

If I could do it again I would buy a HR hood from someone used and call it a day.
