Default is this too good to be true?

I have a friend that recently picked up a pair of bride seats. He ended up getting them from some people that had no idea what they where worth and he didnt realize what they were worth. Well after i told him how much they cost if they are authentic he said that he would sell me the pair for 600! so i looked at them and they do seem to be authentic. They only way i know to tell is on the little bride tag on the side says made in japan and the side of the seat has a little silver sticker that has japanese writing on it. Is there any other way to tell? do these seem authentic? is this too good to be true? they are an all black full bucket seat (non reclinable) that say bride low max on the top and back. the vios maybe?

Even if they aren't, $600 is worth it for a pair of good buckets IMO. I'd take the chance that they are.

I got a pair of Sparco Torino's back in the day for around $150+stock Prelude seats because the guy that bought them didn't fit in them and he just wanted to get rid of them. Good deals do happen, you may have caught this one.

taiwan made Brides are nearly indistinguishable from the real seats, the screws grommets, the box, the fabric etc.. Bride lost their trademark a few years ago.. so the end result is if its exactly the same, then its the same.. authentic or not.
No one will be able to tell.

I know with the bride gias there's a way to tell. The authentic has a carbon kevlar back and the replicas have a fiberglass back. As for the bucket seats I think what you mentioned are the only way to distinguish the two.

I would suggest you get authentic Bride rails, sliders, and brackets. You may be able to get the necessary hardware from somewhere like Wedge Engineering (I think thats the name), but I can't commend on quality. I had a hard enough time getting my authentic Sparco brackets to line up properly in the Z.

ok it is a glossy black backing and i can see the weave of the fiberglass in it. Im assuming they would be rep's then. i talked him down to 450 for the pair. now i guess ill have to price out bases and sliders and harnesses for them i guess

No one will be able to tell.
I disagree. It is easy to tell between fake and real brides.

Wedge works well if you give them the right specs.

buy. buy. buy.
real or not, that's an amazing price for a nice set of bucket seats
safety really isn't the issue, i'm sure you would be able to tell if the quality was so bad that the chair would fly out

the only issue, as said above, is the fitment and if you can install it easily if non-authentic...but there are always ways around this

BUYYYY

You can get seats bran new for 300 - 400 each on the low end but if real there worth alot. Thats why I think there fake, or some one would know the pain the first owner felt. I say dont buy for 600.

+1 Genuine Brides should have a metallic silver paint on the back unless they are carbon or kevlar.

Genuine Bride buckets will always have a FIA cert sticker as well. Knock-offs should not ever have the FIA cert sticker.

edit: apparently the vios isn't fia certified so it won't have that sticker anyways. Zeta III should though

so no knows or they won't fess up where the origin is. it does seem like a good deal but i wouldn't compromise safety esp if you plan on tracking the car. and i doubt your friend has the original authenticity certificate and japanese installation instructions.
