Default What would you do?

Well, after washing my car and seeing it in different lighting after getting it from the shop, it seems there is light overspay on the rear. The front is what got damaged and was fixed but it seems some random overspray got on the rear of my car and it looks to be clear coat...

Should I try to get this off myself or take it to the shop and tell them to fix it?

- and it doesn't help it has to be at a certain angle and the right light to see these random blemishes

sorry, here is a pic, it's hard to get a good one because of the angle and lighting you have to be at to see the blemishes

this is one around the rear turn signal

there is about six other random spots on the back of the car like this

Take it back to the shop that did the work. They should be able to fix this easily.

They didn't do your bodywork for free did they? It's their fault for not being thorough enough when masking off the back of the car to paint the front.

Just don't go in there hot-headed. Calmly show them their mistakes and they should be able to sand/buff this stuff out.

A little wet sand and buff should take it right out. I would stop and get a grease pencil. Circle the spots for them so they know where to look. Nobody knows your car like you.

Yes, it will buff out. I found several spots on a truck I bought that they touched up and it buffed out rather easy but hand.

clay bar and quick detailer. Pretty easy if it indeed is just over spray on an unprepped finished surface.

I wouldn't be terribly upset. Unfortunately it's WAY to common.

Use a clay bar on the car. It should take that out. My whole hood had overspray on it, the claybar took all of it out. Just make sure you wash area good before you use the bar. Then apply a coat of wax when you're done.

Follow the directions that come with the kit, spray the lube and then use the bar, put some elbow grease into it too.

i will do this if they don't get it all, like i said, you have to be in the right light and angle to see the spots to begin with, but when you do, you're like "yuck"

i agree with everyone, take it to the shop, they faked up they need to fix it end of story. ive taken my front nismo bumper 4 times to get it fixed due to over spray and little bubbles on my paint. hell, you paid good money demand for a fix.

-ps if you try to fix it and you screw up they can deny that the damage or error was their fault.

*update* got it back, in the sunlight the blemishes aren't there.... the rear bumper is sheen shine and then when it gets parked in the garage under indoor lightning and especially with a flashlight, the marks are still there?? it is even in some areas a different texture when you rub your finger over it??? what's the next thing i should do, hold their hand while they take it back in the shop???

If you are not satisfied with it, take it back. I understand that mistakes are made, but you paid good money and you should be satisfied with the work.

They probably just used compound and then polished it. Sounds like it needs to be wet sanded. More work and time that they did not want to put in.

Back to the bodyshop you go.
