Default New bumper repaint... is it really that bad?

So I got the Z out of the shop and first of all the guy ordered the wrong bumper not an 06+ bumper like I wanted but that's ok at least its fixed (deer damage). My question is how bad is my paint mismatched? I mean is it horribly noticeable? Certain angles you can't tell but at other angles it looks like plain white paint without pearl. I spoke with my insurance adjuster about it and she said that the bumper will not match the rest of the car without a blend and they wouldn't cover that. So basically I am stuck with what I got as the body shop guy said the bumper wouldn't match... he even pointed out my rear bumper doesn't match and I've never noticed it before so now thats driving me crazy.

So is it that bad? I plan to go with a nismo v2 bumper, sides and rear in the future and I am afraid to do so without a full repaint of the entire car just to have it match. Also I am aware that there are no reflectors I am currently waiting for the new ones to come in since they are on back order.

Thats pearl for you.

But they could've been a little bit closer. Seems like they left the white under coat too bright white. Should've added a little more black and yellow then hit with the top coat of pearl minimum of three coats to get the full effect.

The bumpers never matching is true but you can get very close to it.

Drop the three stage pearl white and get a whole color change.

It's very damn hard to paint match the PPW.
One, it's pearl white.
Two, things such as the sun can affect the paint.
04 PPW and a brand new freshly painted PPW will look completely different.
When I got my Nismo V2 painted, the painter told me that PPW is a 'Tri Coat' type paint job.
What ZS14 said pretty much sums it up.

OP. Blending is the only way to make the front bumper less noticeable.
The way your car sits right now isn't that bad, but it would annoy the helll out of me.

When I got my V2 painted, the shop blended the fenders which turned out flawless.
What kind of pissed me off is that they didn't blend the hood so it was really noticeable there because of how big the hood is.
I put on my VIS oem CF hood back on and now my car is sexy.

Last note. It's best to get the whole car painted. Said and done.
It sucks but paint matching won't be a problem there.

Nah... I love PPW way too much to change the entire color.

That's what sucks... it sticks out very badly and if I ever do the V2 front and sides the car will get stripped down to a shell and repainted.

Maybe the body shop you used thought you wanted a two-tone silver car.

Seriously, how did you even leave the body shop with the paint that far off? I would have made them try again.

Depends on how perfect you want it to be.The pic does'nt show that bad.
But,thats a pic,not in person.Personally,if it did'nt match perfect,it would drive me nuts. One thing that is difficultas others have mentioned is the pearl color. These trick colors as I call e'm look good until you gotta match it.
How much dinero you want to spend?A blending job might fix it.From my experience,a top notch shop that does Mercedes etc. should be able to get it right.
It'll cost you.

I'd rather do a full repaint instead of a blend...

Also this is their tape job on my grill

thats why i only payed 200$ total for my bumper AND splitter to be painted. they are gonna do it as fast as they can no matter what you pay some people. unless you pay top dollar at a reputable paint shop you should expect it to be less than perfect. yours looks better in the top pic than the bottom but what really matters is if it matching better or worse when seen in person. heres mine not 'perfect' but very close.

Considering that you will upgrade in the near future this is totally fine.

Wow, that's a pretty crappy 1k job. I had my rear bumper replaced and painted and when they had problems matching they called me. Had the car an extra three days to get it as close as they could. It's not PPW but still a PITA to match. I think they did a fantastic job. And it was much less than 1k!

Did they have the car at the body shop when they painted that bumper so they could at least try and match the paint. By the looks of it I sure hope the car wasnt there.

I got my whole car repainted when I got my kit installed...Sometimes there might be to much gold flake, green flakes, blue flakes, yellow flakes, not enough pearl layed down etc etc etc. Best bet is when you buy a full kit paint the car something other then PPW or get it fully repainted PPW.

Jigsaw. Just kidding, it's hard to tell from the pictures, but it doesn't look too bad IMO. I would probably still try to get it redone though. Yeah it's hard to match, but damn... that's their job!

BTW, I had a chrome silver bumper replaced and painted on a 4 year old Z that saw a lot of sun, $800 bucks and it looked absolutely perfect.

It all depends on where you go. I got my bumper painted for 250 and it turned out amazing.

Body shops rape insurance work.
