Default Change 2006 factory nav to retractable non-nav cubby

I've been searching the forums for the last 6 months or so and this is the first time I haven't been able to find an answer so I joined up to ask.

I have an 06 with factory nav dash (originally didn't have nav, factory nav bezel was used for dual screen carputer) and want to change the upper part out to a non-nav retractable cubby box. I have removed the carputer and am going with a DVD head unit and a DashDAQ linked to a Zeitroniz ZT-2 for monitoring and datalogging sensor data. The DashDAQ isn't a good size for mounting in the factory nav space and I need access to the side for various inputs/outputs.

From what I can see the 03 retractable door will fit on an 06 with some work but there are gaps and the lid needs to be painted to match. BUT, all of the installs I have found are of Nav screens installed behind the door, not the cubby box.

So here are my questions:

Does anyone have any information on fitting the 2003 cubby BOX into an 06 dash?

Does anyone have a picture of an 06 cubby with the door removed? I don't mind not having a door at all if I can make it look OEM.

Thanks

you can just buy an 06 center console with the cubby if you're not looking to run a 7" monitor in the top area above the radio.

The 03 doors look funky in the 06 dash unless its open. I had the retractable door for nav in the regular 06 panel, open you cant tell but the gaps are bad when closed.

he has an 06 nav.... he wants to go for cubby, he needs to buy an 06 upper console with the cubby.. done. no need to bother with 03 parts.

Right, but I will have the door open 99% of the time and it looks ridiculous with the lid hanging up in the air.

Which is why I either need the retractable door or like you suggest I can just get the 06 cubby pieces but then I will take the door off and I can't find a pic of the cubby with no lid to see what I'm up against for making it look right.

Any updates? I'm also thinkin of doing the 2003 chubby door to and 06 bezel/dash piece, But I have n 2003 oem nav with the retarctable door. Could I just get to 2006 chubby lid and retrofit the New door to the older one to keep the retractable fiction and stock Nav? Any help/info would be great?
