My rear hatch struts were colmpletely shot but I didn't want to pay almost $ 200.00 apiece to the Nissan dealer for stock struts.
I found a great replacement strut at Autozone. They are called " Mighty Lift " and they are $ 50.00 a piece. They come with all the hardware, ( the upper ball joint that screws into the hatch, and the bracket at the bottom of the strut. )
I installed them last week and they work great. I have the stock spoiler and which adds more weight but these struts can handle that too.

Z1 has them for 68 plus shipping.

 

I bought OEM Nissan for 39 bucks for the pair

 

Z1's is high powered for ~$70 and will actually lift your hatch up.
