Default MOMO Shift **** install

After debating on the Nismo GT *****... I decided I'd try the MOMO Raptor in Black Leather. I liked the GT **** in Titanium, but was concerned that it would leave the Nismo logo permanently branded in my hand come summer.

The original shift **** had a very wide base, whereas the MOMO **** is better proportioned. To make the boot transitioin nicely, I removed the black plastic spacer from the underside of the boot (see photo, below).

There was also an extra piece of leather that was glued to the inside of the boot that I removed.

I pulled the top of the shift boot through the bottom cap of the shift ****, and taped to the shaft. When the shift know is in place, the boot is held captive. I had to drill out the hole in the Momo to .700 in to get it over the shaft and shift boot.
Result is that the shift boot tapers nicely from the base of the new shift ****.

I like both the look and the feel.

This is the piece I removed from the underside of the shift boot. The original **** has a very wide, flat base, whereas the MOMO **** is nicely proportioned.

I should've taken side by side pics.... didn't think of that during the install. It has a much more ergonomic feel to it, plus it weighs only a fraction of the stock shifter. It totally changes the 'feel' of the shift.

I've seen cars with the 'straight' style nismo ***** (not GT) and they do nothing for the vehicle... This one actually looks like it belongs in the car (to me, anyway).

I'll try to get some side-by-side pics for a size comparison. The only thing that would make this better is if it was shorter, but the hollow 'raptor' head won't let it slide lower on the shaft. So overall height is close to stock.

grutter... you have a lot of great mods... but that shifter is not one of them IMHO. If you like it --- great.

The stock shifter **** is still a great feel in the palm of my hand.

That's what she said.

Not really liking the chrome handle... doesn't match anything else in the car. Some brushed aluminum (even fake) would look a lot better.

When I ordered it, I didn't expect it to be polished or chrome. It was advertised as having an aluminum base, so I thought it would be a close match for the interior trim. (see attacthed image).

I debated installing after I received it. However, it actually looks better installed than in the picture, and I love the feel..... the camera flash makes the chrome look reflective, when in person, it picks up the surrounding black boot and trim, so doesn't look shiny at all.

Don't mean to sound 'defensive' of what I installed... but just wanted to let board members know that there are alternatives to the Nismo *****, and what I did to make the shift boot transition nicely to a replacement ****.
