Paint scheme advice, black hood?
I have a chrome silver z. Recently i was hit and insurance is payingfor a brand new bumper and repainting of the hood. Heres what i thought i would do:
Have the hood painted black, have the center piece of the new bumper painted black, and pitch in a bit of cash to have the roof and some eyelids painted black. Anyone think that sounds good, or maybe too tacky?
Any answers and comments are appreciated. Im using my phone so bear with the lower case i's
Thx in advance

I heard vinyl is a PITA, and painting later will cost a lot. The only reason im asking is because im really split between these two and they plan to paint in a few days. This isnt just a "build my car for me" im just hoping someone can push me one way or another

Keep it silver.
It's not hard at all. You just need some practice. Stick with 3M vinyl if you do. Also, having a second set of hands for the hood would help a lot.
If you're so undecided about it, vinyl is the cheaper way to go. Plus, if you don't like it, just rip it off and you have a clean slate. No big $ for paint either.
This. There is a separate section on this forum. Just ask for someone to chime in on your idea.
This. Again, go with the vinyl.

I'd suggest silver. I'm considering a vented CF hood for my chrome silver coupe, but it will be paint matched if I go that direction. I think that black or CF is just too dark against the light grey personally.
And around here, the only cars with mismatched hoods are either:
Highly modified with FI, full body kit, wheels, etc. to compliment
-or-
Wanna-be street racers "living a quarter mile at a time"
Not sure how it is where you live... and not sure if you care what impression the car may give others. I only bring this up because you seem on the fence about what to do. If you were saying "eff yeah, I'm so excited about doing a black hood... check it out guys", I'd give you a completely different answer - because I'm not a follow the pack kind of guy when it comes to modding my Z.
Since you're unsure, the safe bet is silver. The next best bet is black vinyl so that you can change back easily if you don't like. The highest risk is to paint it black before you are confident that you're going to like it long term - or if a future buyer of the car is going to like it when you eventually try to sell it.
