Hello all, i tried to research this but didnt find much.

One of my headlights on my 05 was messed up today and i need a quick replacement. I saw these on ebay, but am obviously hesitant because they are cheap and from ebay...

Here is the story, i have an 05 BASE model, which i think has the non-hid housings but the guy before me added HID bulbs or something. Beacause i def have hid's, but normal bulbs in high-beam. So since they fit in my halogen headlight assembly, they should fit in those fine.

What do you guys think? Has anyone had those for a while? How do they hold up?

I've bought a few lights from that company to steal the headlight covers and replace some of my more beat up sets. Still have the housings sitting here and i'm not sure what to do with them?? They're not OEM as the "guts" are a cheap plastic material and has some rough edges in places that tend to leave little shavings all over INSIDE the lights. Took almost 4 weeks to get to me as well. Over all, I give them a 4 out of 10. If I were intending to use the whole light to put on a Z, i'd spend the extra cash and get the real deal OEM.

Good for covers, but not much else IMO.

Ok, one more stupid question.

How can i tell if i have HID or non-HID headlight housings? Like i said, i have an 05 base model, but it has HID...but seemingly regular hi-beams. Obviously it was added, but i dont know if he replaced just the bulb with a kit, or the whole thing.

Is there a way to visually tell with out taking it out?

It's tough to say because if you do indeed have aftermarket HID on a base, where is the ballast located? I've never modded a non HID housing. On a non modded non HID housing, the underside of the light will have a place where a ballast should go, but Nissan blocked that off with a plastic cover. OEM HID housing will have a hole to fit a ballast in, and with the ballast removed, you can see right inside the light and all the "guts".

My first thought for you would be to feel or see if you have the hole, or a blocked off piece of plastic? Since you might be aftermarket, this might not help you either way.

Next look at the where your brights are. The fitting for your bulb is different than the OEM HID housings. I'm not at home or i'd snap you a picture of both sets. It's very obvious. If you can get a picture posted, I can tell you what you have.

Maybe someone else has a better quicker way for you? Also, how do you know FOR SURE you have after market HID? I assume you have a ballast and igniter correct?

I just snapped some pics from inside the wheel well. It seems its a non-hid assembly with hid aftermarket. (Maybe the zip-tie gives it away)

It will not work. The projector in theose aftermarket ebay lights are different than the ones in OEM. The HID Bulbs will not work in them. Trust me, I was in the SAME dilemma as you when I had my accident. Find some decent OEM housings and do it right the first time...

I would say yes you have non hid housings, but either will work though for you.

I just bought a aftermarket oem headlight from a local place that deals with bodyshops. So that should work for now. I just wanted something quick so i dont have to drive around looking like a toolbag with one f-ed up headlight.

I really want to black out my headlight housing but am a studentand work full time. I can't find the time to make this project work so I was thinking about buying these headlights and blacking them out so there is no downtime.

 

If you have HID's I'd worry about them being for non-HID car...if you don't have HID's it won't be an issue.

can't comment on the quality of the part though.

EDIT: noticed you have 8000k in your sig...so I can assume your Z didn't come w/ HID's but you put them in? if so then I guess it can't be any worse than it currently is.

 

why not just put the cheap ebay lights in while you paint your stock housings then sell the ebay ones when your done?

Painting the headlights only takes a day and an over night dry. Also 8000k is fail, you losing so much usable light....

 

+1, I wouldn't buy anything for my car on ebay unless its a brand name or oem though.
