Installed new headlights
So I installed my new headlights this past weekend. I bought all new HIDs.
The lights turned out pretty good. Lights are 6k.

I upgraded to the 06+ version because of the obvious reasons (looks and visibility). But if the OP could only afford so much, than this move is understandable, to a point.
Just be ready for the headlights lens to be shot after a couple of years since the entire headlight assembly is made of cheaper/thinner plastics. Just keep polishing them. Those are ebay knock-offs I assume, since they have the black interior?

i am confused. upgraded 03-05 stock HIDs to another set of non OEM, non UV harcoated stock 03-05 HIDs with a set of 8k lights...

i think we are all missing what the reason for changing your lights was.. and to a bulb that will throw down far less light to the road at night...

Actually I can see just fine if you wanted to know. It lights up the same amount of road, just a tad bit less brightness. I paid $500 for the lenses so they are not cheap knock off. A friend and I painted the lights. OEM lights are not that well made. I have had 2 pairs of them and both of them did not last more than 3 years. I said 6k lights, if you read correctly, which is not that much difference in the 4300. Of course the 4300 has the most night birghtness, but you can barely tell. I have pictures of both, from the drivers view. There is nothing wrong with the OEM lights. I was just showing pics of my new lights, dont uderstand why this website has to be so picky about people. Thats why I like 350zmotoring.com better. PEACE!

I hope you're talking about the condition in your second statement, otherwise you need to make up your mind because you're flip floppin more than John Kerry.
Oh, and so you've had your Z for 6 years? And gone through 2 pairs of OEM headlights? Damn bro do you only drive your Z through hurricanes or something? My 05's headlights are still going strong. You need to get thicker skin if you want to be on this forum, the reason they started asking questions is because it looks like you went from stock 03-05 headlights to.... stock 03-05 headlights painted black with less bright HID's in? That you paid $500 for? For that price why didn't you just look for some 06+ headlights? The crap you're saying just doesn't make sense.
Chrisman, I have the early HID lights with xenon low beams and halogen high beams. As noted the low beam, although bright enough, has a very poor pattern up at the cut-off point. When activating the high beams the flood light part of the reflector does a ok job of filling in the dead spot of the HID beam. In addition it also sends out two small pencil beams down the center that focus some light way down the roadway.
I notice that oem quality replacement Bi-xenon projectors units are available aftermarket in a great many sizes and shapes. Is it possible to retrofit one of these into the early style lights? I’m guessing that having the cut-off inside the projector unit instead of relying on the back reflector of the early lights will give a better low beam pattern.
Also this kind of retrofit would produce a light assembly with two high beam light units (the Bi-xenon H-beam + the halogen beam) for the win. The bright white light of a HID fills the road with more uniform light, but the yellowier halogen light does a better job of highlighting the edges of dips, bumps, potholes or gravel on the road. The mix of these two color temperatures helps my eye distinguish something like gravel in a corner by making the shadow created by the obstruction more distinct.
