Default TS Rear Diffuser caused the exhaust to melt bumper parts

Hey guys.

We just got home from our local Time Attack event at the Yas Marina circuit. (2 categories were dominated by the Z's may I proudly add)

Ok, during the practice I was behind my good buddy who is currently running the TS Diffuser (Mastergrade).

Everytime he slowed down, I saw clouds of smoke coming from his diffuser.

We went to the pit and it turned out, the plastic parts from the rear bumper were already melting. Parts of the diffuser itself got brittle.

It seemed to us that the heat from the exhaust could not find enough room to dissipate heat. The bumper itself was starting to melt!

Anyone experienced the same at the race track? how about the TD exhaust users on TS Diffuser?

my exhaust tip melts a little piece of my bumper from time to time... no diffuser installed, but clearance is pretty tight on the exhaust.

But there are no issues when he drives normally. It just happened while at the track. He's running OEM exhaust.

weird chit.

Strange?
I'm running a Shine Spec-R CF diffuser. Its almost touching the CF.
No problem with any melting or discolor.
That must be one hot exhaust!

Change exhaust to a more open exhaust. More heat out the back of the tailpipe and not heating things up. Singe exhaust out be great, my rear floor would almost smoke after a track session with my stock exhaust

wow that's a shock. i'm running a Greddy Tic TD with my TS diffuser. i made sure nothing was touching during the install and i've never noticed any issues regarding melting or overheating. i also don't track my car so i wouldn't be able to relate completely since i don't drive in those conditions.

sadly it was me that this happened to. once in the pit, i took a look at the area where the exhaust tips are and melted black plastic had been slowly making itself to the diffuser. to be exact when looking at the bumper the plastic was seen dripping from the inner part of both exhaust tips. .. i guess the diffuser did its job too well.

maybe time for an exhaust upgrade.

was not able to take pics of the diff, but here is the car during race day
