Default Anyone Upgrade to illuminated ignition cyl?

I have a 2005 Enthus and its always been a pain that theres no illumination. I dont know why its such a pain, but it just really is.

Searching around for a new clock spring, i see that the newer models have a illuminated plastic ring that goes around the cyl now.. I cant imageine that much changed to large proprietary items like the column cylinder, or the bottom plastic column cover.. but im just not sure i guess.

By the part pictures, they look simple enuff to swap over.. but..

Looks can be deceiving..

Has anyone done this? I searched and found a few dead threads asking the same thing.. no replies...or ones previous to the model year upgrade.. no help here.

haven't done it since my 08 already has it, but i would assume you would need a new lower cover, and the actual light ring. Have you checked if there is a plug to connect it to, or would you have to wire it somehow?

it looks like it uses the same part # for the lower cover and for for that trim ring.. so i just said f it and went ahead and ordered the light itself.

It will need to be wired to something of my choice yes.. can i ask you.. what triggers your light, and does it stay on always after you turn the car on? I mean its up to me what i wire it to of course, but id like to remian fairly OEM .. so im curious if ill need to hit ignition, illumination( headlights) or the dome light circuits.

Lastly, what color is the light output? Theres nothing on google image searches i have done.

thx for ur reply btw..

ok, heres what I got:

once you open the door the light ring comes on for 20-25 seconds and then turns off as long as the cars not started.
once you start the car the light ring turns off
when you turn the car off, the light ring lights up once the key is removed and stays on for 20-25 seconds unless you lock the car.
once you lock the car, the light ring turns off.

I hope that helps let me know if you need me to check anything else!

Why not just add an led on top of it on the column so you can see?
