Default Targa Anyone?????

I just got off the phone with Mathew from Newport Convertibles in CA and he said it is know problem to do a targa top in the 350z.. We would have the option of a canvas top or the same color roof as the car... I need 2 other 350z to get a special price from newport... If we get more I'm sure it would be even cheaper... If your really interested please pm me for details... It's going to take about 3 weeks to get the car done if you guys are looking for a time frame... Also if your east coast I have a disount closed trailer company that will hook us up.....

I think it would be kinda cool but, wouldn't that seriously alter the strength, rigidity or weight distribution of the car? Maybe if you found out what Nissan did to the roadster to shore up the strength.

I asked all the questions that were brought up in all the previous threads about the structure of the car and he assured me that there will be reinforcement on the car that will add about 90lbs in weight... Mathew also said that they have done numerous ferrari's and nsx in targa style.... check out their websit and call them he'll give you the info...

Oh I forgot... The way that the top is mounted is by four bolts it's not a latch or anything like that.. Newport gives you a small cordless drill with the ratchet size to take the top on and off easy...

it would be just like your car is now with the same color top.. Matt said that you wouldn't even know that it was a targa top with the top on.... A canvas top would be almost like a convertible top for a roof....

I actually live in new york city but the more cars we get the cheaper it will be...
I'm going to do it either way i'm just trying to find a cheaper way out for myself as well as anyone else interested in this project... If i can only find one other z to do it with the price will be $7200.00 but the more we get the cheaper it will be... For me it's not about getting a convertable i think that this will be the best of both worlds for style and looks.... My goal is to get 4 or 5 cars so i can really go at matt for a great price.. let me know summer on the east coast is gonna come quick and he said they get very busy in the next couple of months...

I'll be interested in the targa top, but not the canvas one. Add me to the list.

Damn, I've always wanted a targa Z. But 7200 is just out of my price range for now. I'm not saying I think it should be cheaper, just the first 7200 i come accross is going toward some funny looking hairdryers that hang off my engine.

I am very interested in this and maybe next summer after I see a few pics, I'll get it done.

Where do you put the top? Do they also fabricate a holder for the top or do you pray for no rain?

Let me know when you are going to round up everyone so I can see how many people you have doing it and give me a price. I was trying to see if anyone around the Chicago area would do it but no one would touch it. I would prefer to see a 350z done by them first to make sure it looks right and see how it gets removed, put back on, and check out how it seals to the car.
Keep me posted, thanks: Jason
