I shot a large group of pieces with clear coat tonight. All I have left is the cubby door and the trim rings....but.

I think I've officially decided against the red in the trim. BUT I am going to be using it on the brake and batt covers, just so it doesn't go to waste. I'm also going to be shooting the engine cover when I get one. I decided that I'm going to get all the red out of my system under the hood.

I also wrenched in the engine damper today too. Which btw, is a royal pain if you have gorilla hands.

Dammit!!!

Buffing one of the pieces I burned through the paint in a spot. Argh!!

I guess I'll have to spot putty and repair it.

The compound I was using was way way too aggressive. I guess there's a trip to the paint store in my future for some fine polishing compound.

Always start with your least aggressive polish first.

Ok. So I got some mequires ultimate compound. (The greatest polishing compound I'm earth IMO.) and went to work.

There is still some more polishing to do before I reattach the knee pad. And I have to fix the spot I screwed up, but there u go.

Spraymaxx 2k clearcoat. It's the best clearcoat to use. A zillion times better than trying to work with plain clear lacquer.

Alrighty. For some motivation, I finished up one of the switch covers and installed it. So far it's a vast improvement over the silver, IMO.

Well, I'm officially not painting the red accents. It will look out of place. Plus the black and silver is starting to look sexy!!

But, I am considering painting the strut bar cover red....bad idea or not?

Alrighty.

I'm all but finished. I just have a few places to touch up, but I can't do that until they cure a little more. If I mask it now, and pull the tape off I'll likely take a chunk of paint with it. So it needs to hang in the garage for the next few weeks.

In the meantime, here's a shot of the waterfall and a install teaser:

Well. I got these in the mail and I think they look GREAT!

Black powder coat with exposed diamond pattern and Z logo etched.

(The red is the footwell lighting)

I also have a great idea to tie in my red theme without Doing anything tacky. I'm not telling just yet though. It going to look great.

The best part about this redo is I'm actually getting a vision at this point of what I want instead of the "pieced together" look I used to have.

Can't wait to post some before and after shots.

Obviously its your car so do what you like, but to me...

Paints interior parts piano black = step forward
Adds diamond plate floor mats = step backward
