Default My interior change up.

I posted pics of my car in the general section and received quite a lot of negative reviews and constructive critisism. I haven't had the time or money to sink into her the way I wanted, but now that the bank account is fat. I'd like to get rolling again.

I figured I would take the feedback I got and make a thread for the changes in their respective sections. I am not trying to duplicate my old thread. This is just a continuation placed in the appropriate sections. So, I'll post some pics and repeat the critisism I received so I can get the people who missed it on track.

So here's the back. It's a jl w6 in a box I made. There is red under strut LEDs that come on when you open the trunk.

This is my amp rack. The ED powers the components Alpine rear fills and CDT fronts. The PG powers the sub.

Here is the front.
What you see in the pic is the waterfall, shifter surround, and center console, all painted by yours truly along with the switch covers. The boots and console lid are all redline goods black leather with red double stitching. The shifter is a MOMO ****. The CDT audio components are in wicked cas pods with the main tweets in the kick panels and the fills in the stock location. (Which are JL)

So, the feedback I got was that the shift **** was hideous and to lay low on the red accents. So I bought a momentum shift **** and will be installing that once it gets here.

I also ordered some diamond plate floor mats. Which will look really good in the dark since I have led foot well lights that come on with the doors.

I guess the next decision I need to make is what to do with my paint job. I hate to get rid of it since it was a ton of work, but I don't want to keep it based on that alone. So I thought if either one of those carid stick on carbon fiber dash kits. The silver would be much more muted that way and the gloss black would probably look pretty good with the "carbon fiber" top.
The other option would be to grab some dinoc and go to town with it covering up everything that's been painted. As well as the strut bar and alpine grills.

I also need to quit being lazy and build a top to that amp rack. So I can cover up the exposed wires and clean it up.

Ideas?

  • The rear looks nice and clean.
  • All your work in the front appears to have been done well, but it is a bit busy for my taste. If it were me, I would have skipped the silver paint and done all black. Also, snip those little loose thread on the center armrest door.
  • I don't like the amp rack. IMHO, amps are built for function, not form. They should be hidden, especially in your case when they are mismatched. If you must have them up there, at least build a fascia to make them countersunk. But, even my amps, which are a matched pair and have been painted to match my car, are tucked into the cubby behind my driver seat with a plexi panel to show them off only at shows.

less is more, less is more.

you have too many different colors and textures.. look at high end cars, see how thier interiors look, watch textures, materials and colors..

mimic in your own car.. i saw the first pic and was happy.. nice box etc.. then the rest went all over the place.. your waterfall is silver but your console is black? dunno man.. its your car, but continutiy is key.

I mean look at buzzardmountains interior.. its flawless imho.

stuck to a few basic colors and textures and it works very well even though its totally custom.

Ill let you search the "post your interiors" thread for that tho lol.

Yeah I know. I was just trying to keep some organization here. Maybe the nods will delete or merge the old one.

So I guess after staring at it for a while, and listening to everyone. Its the black console that's throwing it off.

1. So I could either paint the silver black to match the console. Then buy a carbon fiber kit.
2. Paint the console silver to match the waterfall.
3. Dinoc over both.

I'm leaning toward 1...

I saw that a long time ago. It was actually the one who inspired me to paint mine silver to begin with.

Aside from my console being black and not matching silver. It's pretty well identical.

So paint the console silver and it goes from eww to amazing? I don't quite get it.

I think I'm going to simply paint everything that was silver to gloss black to match the console and see how that looks.

I think the boot area with your sub doesn't look too bad actually. I personally like a nice and clean/simple/function interior.

My opinoin:
-paint the silver parts black.
-new shift ****
-vacuum and clean it up in general then take new picture and i think that'd make a great difference.
