Interior Paint Color for 2007 350z? (black)
You are probably right. The picture angle I took really makes it look like it's easy to see.. but it's really deeper into the handle on the inside of the door,.. and it not easily seen, especially with that new panel on top with zero scratches.
I'm going to *try* some sort of touch up first on that area.. if you HAD to touch it up.. what would you use?
Besides,.. if it's THAT bad, I can pull the panel off and go to town sanding it down and so on. (But honestly.. that panel I bought for the top is really a test panel.. if it scratches up easily.. I'm going carbon fiber on the door panels.. there's no sense in running painted panels that are WHITE underneath. Not sure what Nissan was thinking.. should have run black plastic and painted over it.. if it scratched off you'd see black on black.. not a big deal.
Thanks

You could use a universal black touchup paint if you have a steady hand, otherwise if it's not noticeable I would leave it alone.
I bought my Z used, granted a long time ago and replaced the handle right away. 7 years later it still looks perfect so all depends on how you get out of the car (never hold keys in our hand while opening door, no big rings, etc)

I'm also seriously gentle with my cars.. especially with a new car like this.. IE: I open the car with the handle gently (not the one you grip.. ) and close it with the back of my hand/arm usually (at this time of year) meaning cloth pushing the door closed.
My last car was a Pontiac Solstice and I remember when looking at them (used) the door handles and such parts were really "cheap" and it was a common thing to find them very loose.. so I kept that in mind from day 1,.. and was super gentle with all handles, and it turns into a habit. So my handles never got loose and I suppose it paid off when I sold it recently.
But essentially you are just saying.. don't bother trying to match it or find some special brand that others have used.. just go grab some black paint (I'm thinking a black paint pen given I can easily touch it up that way) sort of like using a sharpie marker .. and forget about it.
Done and done. I just thought someone may have used some small bottle of black paint that had some little touch up brush like a girls finger nail polish brush that was somewhat resilient.
Thanks for your input.

It's gonna look like pooh... Seriously. Either completely strip and repaint or simply grab a replacement part. Plenty of cars being parted-out where you can grab that piece.
Yeah that's sort of what I figured. I don't see how just my hands "bare" would scratch that panel. I can understand rings,..maybe a watch.. of course keys and such scratching. I don't wear jewelry, and no need for a watch as we have clocks on our phones, stereo's.. and I'm fairly good with time in my head (friends have used me as a human clock since highschool.. cause for whatever reason I'm usually within 5 mins of the time on a "guess".)

As **** as I am.. I will likely eventually pull that bottom piece under the top switch panel piece and sand, prime, paint.. but it's great at the moment.
I'll take some pictures trying to hit that same angle as before.
The driver switch panel came off as expected.. It took a little more force to break it free from the back side by the leather pad than I anticipated,.. but it popped off... hardest part of the whole deal was undoing the clips on the switches and electric mirror adjustment ****. Going slow the replacement is about a 5 minute job.
The new panel I got was the same part number,.. and it's "black" but it's a black with a touch of grey mixed in.. best I can explain it. I think the new parts are not like the originals,.. in that the piece isn't white painted black... it's the same color through and through.. so scratches don't show up (as it should be, and it on the 03-05 models). I'm pleased with the outcome.
Oh and the new panel while plastic,.. feels better. I can't describe it,.. except it just feels better. I don't really care how a handle to close your door feels lol,.. but it feels almost soft or something, but it's plastic. Odd feeling and not what you expect when looking at it.
Pleased with the black paint marker I picked up for $2 as well,.. looks glossy going on.. dries matte finish.
I'll add some pics to this post in a few hours -- The old vs new.

Yes,.. It's nighttime -- Did best I could with "lighting" and it being 10 degree's outside, for whatever reason flash on this iphone makes everything impossible to make out,.. probably the case.
But you can see it looks good enough. The touch up paint pen I used on the lower panel I pointed out worked great.. even with the low light that would show up easily. I was going to do a DIY, but it's really so easy that it's not necessary.. get over your fear of prying with a bit of force on the back end and you soon find out it's not going to break.
