Since I've had this car ~6 months I have been avoiding replacing the headlights for this reason - It confuses the crap out of me. I have a touring so I know they are supposed to be HID headlights. My guess is that a shop somewhere along the way went cheap and hacked the wiring to work with a cheaper halogen light. I know they are Halogen in there now, but I really need to replace them as the low beam is barely visible and it's a big safety thing when I drive at night.. its baaad.

Anyway I see that I have ballast and an ignitor but they are both just sitting there, no wires going to the ballast either. The wires that go to the high beam are hacked and made wires coming back out of the 8 pin that go to the Halogen low beam (6 pin I guess).

I can take a picture if necessary at some point this weekend, but as of right now has anyone seen this before? Since I have the ballast and ignitor can I just buy some HID replacements at autozone and plug and play? Will they fit and work correctly in the actual housing, and what wire am I missing that needs to go to the ballast, it looks like I have 2 female 8 pin connectors?

 

I wish I knew the answer to your questions. Ive been wondering almost the samething. I also have an 03 touring with halogen because when the car was in a accident the previous owner went cheap too. Ive been looking and cant find anything yet. Ill let you know if I find anything. and please let me know if you have found anything too. THANKS
