Default 2007 headlights modded and now suck!!

So I blacked the inside of my 06+ projector headlights and didn't get the dust and dog hair (yes I know) out of the inside before I sealed the headlights back together. Now the light output is just plain out dangerous. I tried adjusting them height wise and still horrible. So I've made up my mind that they just need all the crap cleaned from the inside of them and i don't want to reopen them again. Iv'e contact diode dynamics and they agreed to open the lights and clean them and install the sti-R lens I have for 50 bucks plus shipping, but now they told me they aren't taking on anymore headlight work. So who do I contact now? I sent 3 emails to twisted housingz and no response. I just need my lights fixed somehow

So why did you seal them before cleaning properly? If you were in a rush to seal them and slap em back on the car you might have more problems in the future anyways with them... dirt/condensation

Honestly you should probably just buy a new set of headlights...search around and find a set already blacked out.

i didn't realize that there were dust in the headlights. I don't want to buy new ones i just need these ones cleaned and a sit-r lens installed.

Check out ZLEDS on facebook. He's FLIPPER_Z on here.

He's pretty much booked for headlight work too right now. I've had a few things done by him and will be going back to him again. Check him out.

Tell him Chris "clock" sent you.

Thanks to the people that actually helped, I sent a email to lightwerkz and waiting on a response. No thanks to the smart asses who don't ever help and are a waste on the forum.

not many people posted in the thread..
of those posts, 90% had relevant info for you..
of the others.. ( what, 3 posts?), a few members have large post counts and still others have heavily modified cars. ....Their "contribution to the site" is certainly not summized by this thread of yours.

The only flagrant post i see here at all in fact is your own.

I aint mad atcha. but that was a really pointless thing to say.. and thats really what the forum doesnt need..

Im 100% down for hazing by regulars, to newbs and vets alike. We are grown men here.
Its what makes it continue to be fun for those who DO post here daily... year after year.

MY HOUSE. lol.

In case this was aimed my way...i was chiming in from personal experience. Though i haven't torn apart my Z's headlights, i've done it to 2 other vehicles i've owned and they both came out fine...patience and attention to detail was definitely key through that process. Not trying to be an ***, but you should have checked the lights before sealing them...dirt/dog hair especially shouldn't have been hard to miss...

As others have said, you might be able to send them away and have them fixed and what not....if it was me, i'd still just look into buying a new set already blacked out. That way you'll know there won't be any 'sealed' issues, unless maybe they're a really off brand cheap set at that.

Either way good luck with the lights, avoid driving at night for the time being...and post up when you get this resolved

Let's see some photos..

You're not the first to ruin their lights, it happens all the time if you rush or are not 100% sure about what you're doing

I know how you feel..it's called *captitualtion*...ya just want the problem to *go away* and will do almost anything to make that happen.
My take...bite the bullet and open em up..carefully clean the lenses and reseal. This ain't rocket science...but it does take patience.

Just *DO IT*!

Don't send em out..you can do it yourself. Just DO IT

250 degrees for 5 minutes in the oven (after removing cabling and lights)... Have alcohol and microfiber cloths aplenty. Also have extra oxybutyl glue on hand for reglueing. Then you'll be set to rip'em apart and do it again. I just did the Joey mod on a mini R56. Very fun to do with a beer and a friend or two.
