Question If You Could Only Choose One...Aero or Suspension?

Alright, I will try to give as much info as possible so you guys can help me with my decision. I know in the end, it is up to me, but I would like to hear others inputs and what they would do, given they were in my situation.

Lower the car on stock body?
OR
Leave the suspension and go with body mods?

I have never done any suspension upgrades or body upgrades to a car before. This is an all new game for me. The reason I am not doing both is because I plan on buying some property in the spring/summer, so that is where a lot of my money is going right now. Along with the Motordyne Shockwave TDX2 exhaust I plan on ordering, all 3 options together would put me in upwards of 5k+, so I want to cut one of them out for the time being rather then half assing all of them.

Car is a daily driver. Front bumper has a bunch of rock chips and rear bumper has a 2 scratches right on the bottom, so both could use a repaint. 96k miles so springs and struts could use replacing as well. I am le stuck.

Lowering would involve springs/struts or coils and rear camber kit probably. Lower about an inch or so, just to eliminate some gap. Not slammed or anything crazy.

Body mods would be some sort of variation of:

Front
-Nismo V2
-Veilside lip

Sides
-Nismo
-Ings

Rear
-Chargespeed
-TS Rep Diffuser

How she sits now with a full tank of gas, if that matters...

Better yet, maybe I should just scratch everying and go FI!!!
Kidding

Maybe its the camera angle but your wheel width seem a bit large for the
tire size you are running. The sidewalls are on a angle thus bringing the tread
farther away from the lip of the opening.I've got the same size tires(but Hankook
V-12).I don't have that much gap.In addition,I'm at stock height.However,my
body mods make the car look lowered.Which I believe was one option you were
exploring. There are trade offs in lowering.A firmer/rougher ride for the sale of
appearance.IMO,the Z in stock form rides fairly hard.As a sportscar,it should.
You may want to check my pics to see an illustration of my ride height.

Eibach pro-kit springs and then add your aero parts would be my recommendation

What's your budget at this point? I would choose to do the suspension first with some quality coilovers that improve BOTH the look and handling. There are a lot of nice coilover choices in the neighborhood of $2K. If that's not too steep of a price for you before you buy that property, check out something like the Tanabe Z40 coilovers.

I'd say suspensions.

If you're not doing any crazy drop then you won't even need those aftermarket camber arms.

My first mod for all my vehicle seems to be lowering the vehicle. So I'd say lowering the car. It will look way better than stock height and kit.

I thought you had wider wheels...I'd suggest a 255 front,285 rear.
This will give you a bit more width to fit your wheels and, fill the gap a bit
in your wheel well. You could go with a 30 series tire. But,that would increase your gap.I've got a buddy that is running that wheel&tire set up on his Z
with a stock suspension.Looks good.
All in all,you could use a subtle drop. The aero mods would lower the body
about a inch or more.Won't help the wheel gap though.

It seems lowering first is basically the universal choice

I can swing it, but I dont know if its worth it. I wont ever track the car and its just a daily driver. I mean obviously it will vastly improve the car, but maybe I would just be better off with some quality springs/shocks with some sway bars maybe. I know there are lots of choices for coils once you get into the $1500+.

I wish I went with wider tires, but I was just playing it safe. The tires are still fairly new though, so I am going to just keep them until they wear out.

Yeah, like everyone else, lower first. I really like just the stock body lowered look. Nice and subtle.
