Default What do you think of a hybrid OEM/JDM Nismo side?

So I've been eyeing the aerosync for years now but I still haven't really figured out a side/rear combination that I'm completely happy with. I feel like I need something on the side so that the height lines up with the lower aerosync bumper. Atm, I think either the nismo JDM sides or the INGS +1 sides flow best with the aerosync because they carry the 'edge theme'. I know theres a couple of threads on this issue but the problem is, I never really liked the nismo rear (too tacked on) or ings rear (too agressive), infact I don't really like any of the aftermarket rears that I've seen so far in the other threads. The problem is, without a rear, the sides would look funny.

So what if I got a nismo side, cut it in half, and moulded the front of the nismo side to the rear of the oem side? That way the back can stay OEM and it'll still 'flow' with this hybrid side.

I've done a dodgy ms paint sketch to demonstrate what I mean. Sorry whoever car this is, I hope I haven't butchered it too much.

What are your thoughts? Would it look weird? Would the nismo side line even up with the oem one if we chopped it in half?

I say no cause I love the nismo sides as is. Chargespeed rear or just a diffuser if you think the rear needs something not too aggressive.

I understand what you are going.IMO,the end result would look too conservative
for the effort.

You've brought up some good points.A key element of design, especially
with cars is "line".You are correct in saying that without other components
to match sides/skirts,it will look bad.I've experienced this with my Z.You
start with a front lip. Some sides needed to balance it out.A rear diffuser
is added to carry out the "line".A proper rear spoiler can help putting the look together.Everything works toward a single goal.

Thanks for the comments guys, keep em coming - so far I have a kind of yes, and two no's. The no's seem to be "its okay, but theres prolly something better" rather than "it looks bad"?

Here's another pic for the undecided. Again, sorry if this is your car that I've altered:

In my opinion it seems a bit front-heavy if that makes any sense

+1 on it being too conservative for my taste, it's barely even noticeable

The small horizontal "fin" behind the front wheel well needs something
before the rear wheel well to look right. But then, you have the Nismo sides!
I had similar situation with my Z.All my body mods are CF.One thing,
photos do not show the full depth of stuff like body mods.I used Shine
Spec S skirts with CF splash gards in front,CF rocker panel guards in the
rear.Nismo rear add-ons to pull it all together. The "line" of these goes well with my Mines lip.I've got a Shine Spec R diffuser in the rear to balance it all out.
If you were looking to do something different, maybe on the creative side,
maybe find some angled cannards to mount before the rear wheels to
go with the front "fin".There are universal cannards available.Maybe you
could find some that the proportion will be correct.Mounting would take
some creativity.
If you do this, then your rear sides may look out lol...
Will have to add something back there!

I agree with this. Maybe you could do the same to the rear of the skirt, but then that would add to the problem of needing a rear to make it all flow.

I currently have the Nismo sides and rear pieces sitting in a box and I'll soon get the Aerosync or V2 front. What I'd like to do is mold the rear add-ons into the rear bumper so they don't just looked tacked on. I've seen a few Zs like this over the years and it looks just right. If I can find the picture I saw a few days ago I'll provide the link.

edit: Here is the picture I saw the other day. This car also has the Top Secret rear diffuser mounted, but you can see how the Nismo rear add-ons look when molded to the bumper. To me it looks perfect.

Ill reconsider my options!

You could also run the Strosek (or Shine Auto Spec-S replica) sides with the Aerosync front. You could do that without messing with the rear.

Meh, you might as well just get veilside v1 sides and leave off the rears.

I think the nismo would look odd cuase there is a line that would need to also be filled in that goes down the entire side skirt
