Now before i get the typical search search search... trust me i have searched but every one seems to talk about the fitment/quality of the replica bumpers. but not so much on how they last when you scrape the ground/ flex them or what not.

so im not really concerned at ALL about the fitment,its a track toy. i expect that with most reps. but what i want is something thats not going to shatter when i hit a golf ball in the road or when it scraped in my driveway or trailer.

shine quality seems great, but they are fiberglass... fiberglass seems sketchy for my lowered car...

duraflex/E.D., i hear about fitment all day, or when someone runs into a car they break, but what about normal driving? or when i rub my bumper getting in and out of the driveway?


im leaning towards the duraflex, 1.) for price 2.) fiberglass is fiberglass in my opinion(but which is the most forgiving?) 3.)not going for looks...its mainly a track toy

Polyurethane. Pricey but if damage is a main concern this is your best uption in my opinion.

 

i have heard about the poly for durability... def more flex then fiberglass... my only concern with it is i hear it does not hold shape very well?

 

Shine fiberglass isn't typical fiberglass. Its much more flexible so its better at resisting cracking upon impact. I've scraped going in and out of places and all that's ever happened so far is I've lost some paint on the underside of the lip but its not visible to anyone. Just take the driveways slow if there's a chance you'll scrape and worse case if it does ever crack its like 450 for a new shine bumper. Not bad at all.

 

my vis v2 is fiberglass and has held up great through numerous scrapes.. i even hit a parking block once, it sounded awful.. went and looked and not a single crack or anything.

my lip is really low on my factory bumper and i havent ruined it yet, but its also poly

 

Fiberglass will take a beating and is easily repaired. For the track, just buy cheap, it will get beaten with offs, rumblestrips and debris. Also, shipping on bumpers is the same for 1 or 3, i buy multiple bumpers to have spares. Here is my ED front V2 bumper.

I like the way that looks. How much modification did you have to do to get it to fit?

 

Not much, its not perfect but looks better than most. My first V2 bumper from another brand( forgot who we ordered thru) was full fiberglass and fit better, but the ED bumper is more flexable, a little cheaper quality, works great. I have about 2 hours of time into the bumper fitting. Just a little heat gun work to better form it.

 

Thanks. I want to get a new bumper,but where I live most body shops don't even want to touch aftermarket any thing.

What about holes? Do you have to drill your own holes too?

 

All holes had to be drilled, my prior bumper (different brand ) all holes needed to be redrilled because they were off.

With regards make sure you get the entire under carriage and or fender linings for the V2! I learned the hard way what happens when the fender liner isn't perfectly lined up to a Nismo V2 front bumper. The highway air @ high speeds pushed my fender liner onto my tires etc.. Not a good thing
