Default Refinishing my Nismo ****

When I bought my Z it had and still does have a chrome nismo shift ****. I love the shape and feel of it but the chrome is started to ship off on one side of it so I have a few questions about how I can repaint the ****.

Sorry in advance that these question will be noobish because Im not experienced with painting or powdercoating.

1. Is there anyway I can get a neo chrome finish on my shift ****?
2. Is there anyway to get a carbon fiber look finish on it?
3. I dont expect either of those to be possible so worst case scenario is i get the **** powdercoated some color, is there any reason I shouldnt powdercoat it?

Thanks in advance, Craig

Does the plastic sleeve come out of the ****? PC'ing involves an oven right?

See where I'm going with this?

Very true I didnt even think about that. And yes powdercoating involves the paint to basically be cooked on so that may not work. Sounds like I'm just going to end up getting a new shift **** because the prices arent much different

Do you guys think that spray painting the **** would make it presentable? I feel like it would at least make it look more decent and I could change the color then. And spray paint is much cheaper

It couldn't hurt to try. I'd sand with high grit sandpaper and work your way to the highest grit possible before painting, then put a clear over it for durability. Just spray painting it won't last as much as the shifter gets used.
