Ha , You know what I'm gonna just lay a bead of silicon over the stuff that's on there, I don't know what else it could be. Probably take a look again this weekend and do it.

 

reheat the headlight for a few mins in the oven, should take care of that.

 

Ahh I didn't even wanna go as far as to removing all the wiring from the light lol.I'm going to look at it today and hit it with a blow drier to clear it up.

 

So I wrapped all seal covers I the headlight today with Teflon before and still allot of condensation . Guess I'll have no choice but to whip out the silicone this week.

 

If there is a lot of moisture (humidity) in the housing it is going to keep doing this. Gotta get the moisture out of the air inside the housing to keep it from condensing on the lens.

It can be perfectly sealed but if there is a lot of moisture trapped in the air inside the sealed housing it will continue to do this.

Might try using some silica packets out of beef jerky and the such inside the housing to soak it up and keep it from happening again. (and making sure all the joints/caps are sealed.)

 

I baked the headlight yesterday on 350 degrees took all moisture out and Teflon taped the ballast and bulb cover and still there is condensation on the surface of the lens . Guess I'll try the packets and see what happens

 

Luckily I've never had this happen on any of mine or my parents vehicles. So I don't know any real fixes for it.

The silica packets were just an idea as it's a desiccant and they come free with every bag of delicious beef jerky. It wont cost you anything other than a little time to toss one or two in the bottom of the housing (might use some double sided tape to stick it down) before sealing it all back up.

 

So all I've read is that these lights will only work with hid? I have a base and don't want to upgrade to hid. Is there anyway I can run these lights?

 

I thought the D2S is a bi-xenon bulb in +06 plus like mine where low and high beam are 1 bulb, unlike the D2R for low beam and a halogen for high beam (2 bulbs) in the '04-05 models. Or am I wrong on 04-05 having 2 bulbs?

 

All 06+ was HID. If you have a halogen 03-05 you will have to convert to HID. I believe the Halogen 03-05 cars had a 6 pin connector for the headlight harness whereas the HID cars used an 8 pin.

The D2S is a plain Xenon filled HID bulb. There is a shade that creates the cutoff on low beam mode and a solenoid will flip the shade out of the way to let light shine farther up for high beam mode. The light itself never changes.

03-05 did use 2 separate bulbs.

Turboed350Z: If you don't want to do the conversion manually by swapping out the 8pin plug and putting in a 6pin and rewiring then I believe you can buy a ballast that will work with the Depo HID's that is actually 6pin already...I forget the exact ballast you need to buy, but it's available for around $100-$150 if memory serves? Three Five or Morimoto? One of those two companies, and I think I'm spelling Three Five wrong. They spell it differently...I'm a little rusty on it.

Heh...it's not much trouble really..but...I'd only get the lights if you have cheap third party headlights now. Not a huge upgrade if you have oem lights that are already working well, but for the price point of $300 compared to $1400 for oem 06 headlights....they're well worth it for those that need an upgrade from junky lights, or if they want to modernize the look of their car and then sell their existing lights to recoup a little cash.

I plan on doing it myself, just not right now..too much else going on. Looking forward to making it all come together though God Willing. No better deal in the headlights market.

Stay away from using silicon , instead try reheating the headlight and re-tight the lense screws but be careful not to over do it since it might wrap the thread inside.

Also the latest batch DEPO headlights are crap, the last two sets Ive worked on they developed stress cracks within a few weeks...

 

 

Hey so I am wanting to buy headlights but am unfamiliar with a few things. First of all I have an 03 touring, completely stock, original headlights. Now can I buy black depo d2s headlight assembly or will that not work? What does xenon spec mean and does my car have it?

Are all the depo headlights like that bi-xenon? If I got the first ones since their cheaper I can also get the smoked spyder tail lights... Ideas?

Anyway dont get the spyder auto. They mirrored their molds and didnt correct for the non mirrored ballast mounting.

The DEPO are plug and play except for the turn signal bulb you have to tape a set of contacts off and the main HID bulbs are different.

 

For that depo one, I am reading the description and it says bulbs and ballasts not included, also the turn signal bulbs not included. Do you know of any place that does sell them including the bulbs? If not, what bulbs are best on these? Any other setup you recommend by depo?

P.S. I know im a noob Never dealt with lighting lol

 

They come with everything but your main hid bulb and ballast.

They used to sell as a complete unit for 600+ but people didnt need everything.

 

There's a huge thread on the Depo headlights, just do a quick search for it, and read/learn. Don't get the Spyder crap (head or tail) and don't buy cheap Chinese-made HID bulbs. Philips, Osram, Sylvania, Morimoto are good brands, but not cheap. Bulbs make a huge difference in brigthness and beam pattern, and you'll get what you pay for. Color temp should be 4300-5500K for best visibility, but you can get by with 6000K.
