Agreed - you need to quit before doing any more damage. Let a pro take it from here.

You didn't really need a kit to begin with. Just wetsand (start with a 2500 grit or 2000 depending how bad it is) and go up in grit (up to 3500) to get the surface nice and smooth for polish.

Hazing is normal until you buff the headlights with some polish. If the surface isn't smooth enough, you're not going to get that hazing out.

The surface seems smooth and why I was wondering if I should just try and polish it? Just not sure what polish to use.

I just looked at the Sylvania kit on Amazon. It's crap. First, the sandpaper isn't fine enough, with it going up to only 2000 grit. You need 2500, then 4000 to get the surface ready for polish, and you need to use lots of water during the process. Second, you've got to polish by hand with that kit, which is useless on such a damaged surface.

Get the Mother's kit, which I mentioned a long time ago in this thread. It has a foam polishing "ball" which is used with a power drill. Used properly, you will get a mirror-smooth, clear finish, but first use some 2500 and 4000 grit wet-dry sandpaper (remember, lots of water) to repair the damage you've already done. Protect your paint with lots of tape.

4000 isn't needed...my body shop wetsands with 1000 then 1500 and uses a medium cut rubbing compound and buffs them out. They charge $50 to do this and they come out brand new.
