Default Red Line sensor issue?

Hey sorry if this is posted in the wrong area. But im just wondering has anyone had an issue that the red line light would appear flashing while going 2,000 rpm and around 2,500 its a solid red line. My car reads that its doing 9 miles to the gallon. could this be a sensor problem?

2006 base 350z 76k miles.

You can set the light to come on at whatever rpm you want. Yours is obviously set at 2500. It starts flashing 500 rpms before the set mark then appears solid at it or passed it. Not sure about your gas mileage though but you can reset that too. If you warm up your car or leave it running while not moving then that will make it go way down. Just reset it before you drive somewhere and I'm sure it will read normally.

actually i was messing around with the rpm meter wondering what it was about. thanks for your input. im assuming my cars reading the gas mileage wrong since it thinks its constantly redlining.

The shift light doesn't have anything to do with the mpg readout.
