Hi there, I have 2005 350Z touring. On these models, the cubby only flips up, and does not fold inside itself. I don't know how many else of you have these, or if it bothers you as much as it does me, but I almost can't stand it. If I was to install a gps unit or something similar inside that cubby, it's not easily visible as it would be if the lid was to fold inside like on other models.

So my question is, is it possible to make mine fold in? Just change the lid out, or what? I would like to change it up and have a gps installed to where it looks stock.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Nissan issued a mid-model update in 2005 after negative customer feedback on the mechanically folding cubby lid. People complained that it was too fragile, so Nissan simplified the design and gave it a simple hinge like you have.

Exam the older cubby and you'll find it will not fit the newer waterfall IP design. The OD and contours are different, so it's not possible to simply swap them out. You're left with doing a custom design if this is a feature you must have.
