Default 350z Shift Plate

Hey guys,

I saw a few pictures while on the forums and noticed people had a shift plate that went onto the center console and had the 6-spd pattern on it. I thought it was really cool.

I looked all over the place and couldn't find anything except the little nismo one. So I decided to make one for my '03.

What do you guys think?
(Yes, I am getting a new shift **** that won't have the pattern, so it would be 'functional' lol.)

I don't post a lot, so hopefully i'm in the correct section!

Looks good. I need a shift plate as well. My detailers never know where reverse is. How did you go about making this?

I'd imagine they'd use a CNC Machine.

It's OK
Would look better if the plate replicated a "shift gate".
The black lines on yours would actually be cut through the aluminum
A CNC router would have to be used.If interested in doing this, contact
ZEETOYZ.He has custom work done.

Much more likely laser-engraved, such as by a trophy shop.

I made the design and the size on my computer, then I found someone local who can do laser engraving and I picked out the material he had to choose from and this was the final product.
If anyone is interested in one shoot me a pm. They only fit the 03-05's. I can make them for the 06+ as well. I want to play with a few designs and maybe logo's or something.

I was actually looking into making a real shift gate and getting rid of the leather shift boot but the design of our z's wont really allow it to work... Normally the cars with shift gates, the shifters are ran off a linkage whereas our z's shifter is directly connected to the trans. The shaft is also large so I dont think it would look very good. I am still going to look into it when I have time because I really like the idea but we'll see how it goes...

^ It's like this has been covered before.. https://my350z.com/forum/exterior-an...d-shifter.html

No one drives my car that doesn't know the shift pattern but good on ya for a DIY (kind of) plate.

Yea I was digging around on the forums too (didnt see that thread you posted) to see if anyone has attempted it.

Doesn't look doable, I tried to mock one up quick. Too much play and the shaft is too large. The gate would look like a square cut-out lol

Oh well

But yea, I saw someone with an 06+ Z with a shift plate and thought it was really cool so since no one sold them I tried to make it myself, took a few tries because the thickness prevented the coinholder from opening
